Would not recommend him ever.
Saw him for at least 6 -7 years or more ... have had Type 1 diabetes and with my symptoms he never tested for Celiac ... which after 7 or more years another gastroenterologist diagnosed me with Celiac in about 2 minutes ... did the blood work and it all confirmed it was Celiac. Also Dr. McCallum told me to get an MRI at Oro Valley Hospital and after the MRI I walked over to his office - because they did not ever answer the phone - and they said 'he is in Mexico but you do not need to get the MRI' ... a bit too late.

I did not trust he would not hurt me.
I had a good experience with the front desk staff. Dr McCallum’s nurse was quick to tell me she did not need the papers I brought but then she did need them. I really hate when people cut me off before I am finished speaking. I did not have much better luck with the doctor. When I told him I had had an endoscopy a few months ago he said well why are you here then? Um because I am not better. He was dismissive, kept focusing on heartburn (not my complaint), and said I needed another endoscopy and colonoscopy before he ever saw my documents. I need to trust my specialist and I left feeling like he would hurt me while I was under anesthesia. Some people apparently like him. I do NOT trust him.

I recommend Dr. McCallum
Dr. Mccallum, as well as each member of staff at Tucson Gastroenterology Institute who took care of me was exactly what you want in a health care situation. Every person was warm, unrushed, inviting questions from me, and was totally confident professional, which put me at ease. Before my procedure, twice I had questions and called the office and my call and questions were answered right away with such kindness, knowledge and patience. I am most grateful I was referred to Tucson Gastroenterology Institute.

Professional and he listened!
Dr McCallum decided that needed an endoscopy by the end of my first visit. The procedure was scheduled for the next week.On the day of the procedure, everyone in the office worked together to make me feel comfortable . My procedure was later in the afternoon so several patients were waiting.Dr McCallum clearly explained what he saw during the procedure and let me know he had taken a few biopsies.I’ll take an endoscopy over colonoscopy prep any day!!!

Reassuring provider and excellent team
I'm an 82 yo female who has been struggling with difficulty swallowing. After trying multiple things with my PCP I was referred to Dr. McCallum for a procedure to evaluate my esophagus. I was very nervous about the procedure and put it off for a while but finally went. Dr. McCallum was so reassuring, explained everything to me and put me at complete ease. He has a very good sense of humor and works with an excellent team. I highly recommend.

BEST MEDICAL FACILITY FOR A COLONOSCOPY!
Yesterday was the first preventative colonoscopy I've had in 10 years; I recently moved back to Tucson. My primary care physician recommended Dr. Robert McCallum @ Tucson Gastroenterology Institute, and I will be forever grateful for my pcp's referral. From the minute I walked into this facility until I was escorted out to my car, this Institute has set the standard for what I will come to expect any time I ever walk into a hospital or medical facility. Dr. McCallum and his team, i.e., Liza, Kat, Caitlin, Frank, & Megan have raised the bar when it comes to providing professional & knowledgeable service, and every team member who met me showed genuine concern for my well-being. Throughout the entire visit and procedure, I was made to feel welcome, safe, and comfortable and truly felt like I was well cared for and had nothing to worry about. I was advised that I will not need a repeat colonoscopy for another 10 years. When that time comes, I will schedule it with Dr. McCallum and team.
