Very poor waste of time
I was very ill with lyme disease..the fool told me I never had lyme disease!! He never looked at my med. records which stated dx of cns lyme disease...I was disabled on soc security disability...I asked him if he felt I was born this way....I told him I was in college part time studying occupational therapy...you can't tell by looking at a patient what is wrong! He replied ugh ugh.. a waste of a trip about 200.00 had to take a bus into boston..too weak, sick to drive into tufts...avoid him...I did report him to the hospital president, quality control etc....by all means avoid Dr Kalish m.d.

Man needs to go back to school
First off this man has a terrible bedside manner. He intentionally tried to make me feel like I was stupid. Says he has “never heard of antibody testing for Lyme so we don’t recognize antibody test results”…. Says even with igg and igm and symptoms never clearing up, years later still sick with nothing else in my medical history and his response? “chronic Lyme is not a thing like people believe it is”. This man told me he had never heard that the “ tick borne illness panel “ is an inaccurate test. And said it’s the only one he would use? He says “bullseye could be from anything” Look, all of this information is readily available. But has come out in the last ten or twenty years. Seems he hasn’t lifted a book since college. Told me “the only way I would treat you for Lyme is if u show every single physical and neurological symptom and had all ten bands present when tested”. By not keeping up to date with testing and treatment. He is doing people a DISSERVICE

NOT a LLMD
Nice doctor. Definitely a waste of time for my chronic Lyme symptoms. No blood work. Dismissed elevated IMG and Inflammatory markers from prior doctors. . Fibro dx and OA.

Knowledgeable and friendly
I went to see him to find out if a rheumatoid disease explained my symptoms. He examined my joints thoroughly, and explained his conclusions. He showed that he cared for my pains and ailments.

I was referred to Dr Kalish by another doctor at Tufts for a specific condition after extensive testing. Upon arrival Dr. Kalish first explained to me that the test that determined I had this condition was flawed and explained why. Except his explanation was backward and made no sense. In the end he put me in the position to defend his colleague's diagnosis. Instead of contacting her prior to my appt., he made some new guesses, and sent me for x-rays that were completely unnecessary. His PA spent far more time with me but was not useful. I called his office to voice my objection and left a message, but nobody got back to me, until they wanted the $1,000 of completely wasted testing, the results of which I got from the PA as well...inconclusive...Meanwhile months of pain thanks to Dr. Kalish.

After seeing two other rheumatologists that really made me feel crazy and not listened to, I was referred to Dr.Kalish. Although I did have a bit of a wait each time I went, it was worth every minute! The reason for the wait was the amount of time he actually spends listening to his patients and really going over every symptom! I finally got a diagnosis (two actually) and proper treatment. Yes I had to call for results but he told me that so I’m okay with it! After seeing 17 doctors in 9 years he is the only one who actually made me feel like he was listening and that he cared and he was able to put my symptoms together and diagnose me with Sjögren’s and fibromyalgia! I would recommend him with the warning that you will wait in the waiting room and you may have to call to follow up. Neither one is a big deal to me.

Dr. Kalish has never diagnosed me or provided the treatment that I desperately needed. He has much more interest in his students which he should do full time rather then being a part time treating doctor. I wanted to be switched to another rheumotologist and Dr. Kalish prevented that though he was doing nothing for me. I have been forced to go elsewhere and was diagnosed with two serious illnesses which Dr. Kalish failed to do due because he did not pay attention to what needed to be done.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Kalish?
Dr. Kalish failed to evaluate or recognize autonomic dysfunction related to Lyme disease. Essentially walked out of the office without insights or recommendations to better understand my multiple-systemic failures. It is 2 years later and I am in deep trouble based on PET scans, nerve biopsies and orthostatic blood pressure testing. To descibe himself as Lyme expert is just not my experience.

Dr. Kalish is amazing! He listens to my issues and discusses all the treatment options available. If I'm not happy with a particular method of treatment he is very receptive to other options. I find him and his staff very easy to communicate with.
