Staff is terrible!!!!
On several occasions I have been left to fight for hours and days to get simple things like prescriptions filled. There is no follow up nor follow through. No one answers calls, I have had to leave messages that may or may not be returned or acted on. No accountability. Even using their technology doesn't assure something doesn't get messed up and cost you the patient hours and pain all of which they do not seem to care a wit about. Not even a call (even my dentist calls after a filling) to see how I was feeling after a major surgery.

I am new to the area and need a surgeon for a fractured clavicle. I didn’t do my research and that is my fault. While I believe the surgery itself was done okay on the interior of my body I was very unhappy to see an 8 inch incision and the use of staples to close my incision vs sutures. I have many family members and friends that are in the surgery world. My sister has preformed hundreds of clavicle surgery’s and was in shock when she saw my incision. I would have had her or a doctor she knows do my surgery but they are in the west and I’m in the east! Needless to say I just feel like my surgery was rushed with little care about what this would look like after surgery and was done more for speed and convince for the surgeon. Three friends in the surgery world we’re all shocked at the outcome and said it was the largest incision they had ever seen for a clavicle. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor that cares about all aspects of the surgery. Would not recommend Dr. Hymes.

Dr Hymes specialized in the surgery I needed and gave me superb care.Fell & suffered a bad spiral fracture to my upper humerus. The first ortho said only 10% of these injuries needed surgery -but in the 2-3 days post injury, it became glaringly apparent I needed an expert. Not only did Dr Hymes specialize in these problematic breaks - he also was a professor of surgery: this spoke volumes to me. At our first meeting and XRay eval, Dr Hymes was definite in telling me I needed surgery ASAP. I was stubborn, asked to wait to see if the bones started to 'move in the right direction'. He accepted my (poor) decision & we agreed to monitor weekly. Needless to say, surgery was soon scheduled.Sucessful! Followup appointments were great- Dr Hymes & his whole team were super. He explained everything on the xray/progress images; he laughed when I told him I thought my new internal body jewelry was beautiful :-) Got referred to great PT and hand specialist. See Dr Hymes & trust him. SO Grateful!!

Fell on ice 3 weeks ago and severly broke my ankle. Two different emergency room visits and my ankle could not be set. Dr. Hymes came to the rescue and agreed on surgery. He was so possitive and with a big smile. All went well and the follow-up x-ray look perfect. Many bars, pins and screws were need, but Dr. Hymes did it beautifully. The first follow-u[ visit went well too and all looks good.

I was in a motorcycle accident on July 26 2017. I was taken to Inova hospital where I was meet by Dr. Hymes who preformed surgery on my left leg. Today February 14 2018 I walked out of his office with not even a limp. I was shipped to Inova because no other doctors wanted to mess with my mangled leg. I had a total of 2 surgeries at Inova and 4 appointments at Dr. Hymes office. His bed side manner is excellent. He is easy to understand and explains everything very well. Dr. Hymes is awesome.

If I could leave a negative grade I would. Dr. Hymes strutted into ICU at INOVA Fairfax hospital the day after I had serious surgery on my cervical spine and announced that I was being scheduled for shoulder surgery and that “the shoulder guy” would explain but was on vacation. Dr. Hymes was rude and dismissive. 3 other orthopedists recommended conservative management with no surgery. The humerus is healing nicely and a healthy shoulder has been preserved. Require explanations—it’s your body.

Dr. Hymes was my Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon after a severe racing accident in which both ankles were smashed. I am walking. Since then, I have been to more than one podiatrist who after looking at my xrays were amazed at the work. One doctor told me that people with injuries like mine usually lose their feet, and those that get to keep their feet don't usually get to walk. I am thankful that the helicopter took me to Fairfax INOVA where Dr. Hymes was on duty.

Dr.Hymes has been a blessing and I am grateful for his knowledge and awesome bedside manner. His staff is excellant. During my time in the ICU, he made sure my family understood all that he had to do in surgery for my extensive injuries. In my opinion, he is the best doctor by far. I will walk again and I will forever n grateful.

He doesn't listen. He comes in and treats like everyone is the same. He has less than ideal bedside manner. I'd recommend finding another doctor.
