On first consult with Dr Greenleaf after severe back pain with 2 visits to UC and one ER visit, I felt I was in good hands and going to get the care I needed. I requested a physical therapy after treatment with muscle relaxers, steroids, and narcotics. After 5 weeks of PT , we discussed surgical options .He told me minimally invasive surgery would have me recovered in 3 weeks. I had surgery the next month. but still had back pain radiating to my hip, groin and thigh. After weeks of continued pain I requested PT and was told “ most patients don’t need PT”. I insisted, so I began PT for several weeks. At follow-up, he appeared annoyed that I was not progressing according to his “algorithm “. At 3 month follow-up, I was improving and continuing PT ( 30% deficit in strength and 25% deficit in stability by PT ) not yet strong to return to work as RN. He told me to see PCP, refused disability forms. PCP furious that I was “dropped” bc I was 90 days post-op. Disability office staff horribl.

Excellent Doctor!
I had severe sciatica issues and could barely walk. I went to the hospital and met Dr. Greenleaf. He performed a minimally invasive procedure and I was up and walking by that evening. Dr. Greenleaf was very professional and personable. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. I am no longer in pain and life is good again!

For diagnoses he’s very limited - he only looks at bone structures and doesn’t consider other possible causes - nerves and ligaments. He was quite a disappointment and truly a waste of my time and waiting many weeks for this appointment.

Excellent! He literally saved my quality of life. I was curled up in a ball in excruciating pain unable to function. The next day, I could move without pain! I spent thousands of dollars on accupuncture, Chiropracters, doctors, massages, medications etc., with no relief! This doctor is a miracle worker.

This is an update of my experience with Dr. Greenleaf. If you are contemplating undergoing ACDF with Dr. Greenleaf, I highly recommend him and this surgical procedure. I spent years in pain, needing to take opiates, with limited range of motion and no quality of life. I had my ACDF procedure by Dr. Greenleaf 3 + years ago. My experience with R.O. was outstanding from my first visit to my last. I was treated with respect and sympathy from my entire surgical team. Dr. Greenleaf explained everything that was involved in my procedure beforehand. His 'bedside manner' was professional and compassionate. I am not overstating it when I say he gave me my life back. I no longer need pain meds. My range of motion has increased exponentially and, most importantly, I am happy. It's scary to need this surgery and it's normal feel this way but 3+ years out I feel better than I ever thought possible. It was so worth it. I trust him.

After 1 1/2 years into recovery from L5-S1 surgery. I feel like nothing ever happened. Dr. Greenleaf has given me all of my life back. He’s an incredible surgeon. He and his staff at Virtua, were fantastic. Initially L5-S1 recovery is quite painful. But it’s well worth it to have this type of injury repaired. I couldn't walk with extreme pain and uncontrollable urinating. But now I’m happy to say. He’s given me my entire life back. Thank you so much, to you and your staff.
