I lucked out in finding Dr. G - after going through a handful of internal med doctors trying to find a solid PCP in Chicago after college, I finally found a doctor who is A) willing to spend time with you to walk through your concerns, B) easily accessible through in-person and virtual appointments, with quick responses via the patient portal, C) empathetic/amusing, and most importantly, D) knows his stuff. I don't usually write reviews, but when I saw there was one negative feedback post I was compelled to submit my own.

Couldn’t be better
I have been a patient of Dr Golden’s for about 20 years. He has seen me through everything from cancer treatments to hip replacement. His routine care is always thorough and his referrals have been flawless. Once I had gone to one of his referrals who told me he wasn’t taking new patients but when I mentioned I had come per Dr. Golden he said “ We’ll if you are coming from Bob Golden I’ll make an exception. “ Empathetic with a droll sense of humor as well. Very happy to be his patient.

Dr. Golden is approachable, thoughtful and thorough. After relocating to Chicago he was the first physician I visited for my annual exam, based on a strong recommendation from a trusted person. The appointment experience was positive. The office staff was excellent and very efficient. The doctor gathered all of the right information from me personally and asked direct and useful questions about my medical history. He was open and very responsive to my questions of him and made excellent referrals and suggestions for next steps in my care. If you are in need of a personal care physician I highly recommend Dr. Golden.

When our internist retired three years ago, we asked fellow members of The Village Chicago for a recommendation and the majority named Dr. Golden, who has mastered the art of listening while unobtrusively taking notes on his laptop. And he responds quickly through the Patient Portal. Both my husband and I really think he's great. Two weaknesses: referrals to some specialists, who are often so popular they aren't accepting new patients; and he's not taking new Medicare patients.

Office staff is so rude and outrageous. I think this place would benefit from hiring friendlier employees. The experience should be about making the patient comfortable, instead, the office manager is forcing me to stick with this doctor when I want to switch doctors. Awful.

Our internist retired two years ago with little advance notice, so we turned to a local organization for referrals. Of 10 replies, three recommended Dr. Golden, so we had a $100/pp "meet and greet" and really liked him. He computer inputs your information while you're talking but listens carefully to what you're saying, is open to ideas, friendly but business-like. He's part of Interal Medicine Assoc., an independent group (e.g. not hospital owned). Not sure if he's taking new patients.

My mother has been seeing Dr. Golden for the past 20 years. As my mother is aging and her health is deteriorating, I have gotten to know Dr. Golden and his staff more than my own doctors. He is one of the kindest, caring, knowledgeable physicians that I have encountered, as well as the staff who are accommodating and professional. Highly recommend.
