Great Bedside Manner
I went to Dr. Allen to do my vasectomy over a year ago now and he was great. Quick and painless, I healed up fine and he gave me his personal cell number to call if I had any recovery problems. Truly showed compassion and trust after such a big decision to get a vasectomy done.

Dr. Robert Allen is not recommend and did not followed established urologic practices, allowing a prostate cancer to go undected for 4 years. He allowed an elevated PSA to be "watched" with more screening PSAs for 4 years without a firm recommendation for a biopsy to rule out cancer. When the PSA increased by 50%, after 2 years of "watching" he performed a non FDA approved "liquid biopsy" which gave false negative results. At year 4, he said a mpMRI could be ordered, which resulted in the diagnosis of a tumor, which proved to be a very aggressive tumor. His response was poor and he took no responsibility after that. I would not trust him medically at this point.

Dr. Allen and I met at Alaska Regional this past week because of 2 visits to the ER due to 3 kidney stones. He will be performing a procedure next week to take care of these stones. He is prior Army, plus. He most definitely is professional and competent. The desk personnel are exceptional. Due to this coved crap they do make a difficult job look easy. They treat every with respect and professionalism.

Smart, direct, honest, expects you to be on time and prepared, because he will be. Listens to patients well, may seem brusque to people who want more handholding. What you would expect from a retired Colonel. Good office staff, though practice is getting busier.

I went to see Dr. Allen for a vasectomy following a botched procedure done by a different doctor. Dr. Allen used a no needle no scalpel vasectomy technique. The procedure was quick and relatively painless much better than the first vasectomy that I had which took over an hour was painful and did not work.. I highly recommend him Very professional with a good bedside manner and sense of humor

I am a physician myself, but when my child needed urologic care, I chose Dr. Allen. He is straightforward in his approach to solving problems, which I appreciate. He is smart and a man of action. I would recommend him highly to any friend or family member, and have done so on many occasions. We are fortunate to have Dr. Allen here in Alaska.

This type doctor who doesn't like his patients questioning anything. It's shut up and just do what I say. Would NEVER, EVER recommend this doctor.He is rude and has a "doctors are god" attitude.

Dr Allen worked closely with me regarding my candidacy for the Green Light procedure. The GL procedure is for resection of the prostate and relief of symptoms associated with enlarged prostates (BPH). His professionalism in analyzing, treating, and follow-up were among the best I have ever received. My problems are gone and life is as it was when I was much younger. It is my pleasure to recommend Dr. Allen and his professional staff for any urinary related problems.
