Dr. Richard Townsend, MD

This man needs to return to school! First off, he thinks he knows everything and when asked to please expand on that, he gets frustrated and rude! Never again will I goto him!

Was referred to this doctor by another medical doctor locally. He proved to be one of the worst doctors I've ever experienced. Terrible bedside manner and did not listen to my concerns. Conversation went directly to medication's which he wanted to change without justification. Did not shake my hand or my wife nor did he look us in the eyes when he spoke to us. Did not return, and would not recommend this doctor for anyone for any reason, at all.

He is an excellent Dr. Extremely knowledgeable and caring. Always makes sure all. My questions and concerns are addressed at each visit. He has. Been my primary care doctor for 22 years.

I have been seeing Dr. Townsend since I was 10 years old. He is the greatest doctor I have ever been treated by. I strive to be like him and help others the way he helped me and my family. He genuinely cares about all of his patients and healthcare as a whole. Such a wonderful MD and personable healthcare member.

Dr. Townsend cares about my health & I admit that I have neglected the care. He has got the ball rolling. I’m very happy.

I found Dr. Townsend to be rude, to lack understanding, and to be lazy in his approach to my needs. I went to Townsend right after I moved to Saint Augustine for an introductory preliminary, first time visit to have medications prescribed. He arbitrarily changed prescriptions without explanation, lowering the dosages of some medications, mixing up medications and how they were to be prescribed, and then rudely excusing me by saying, “ You sure as hell have cut into my lunch hour.“ As an educated senior adult male, who is familiar with medical practices, I wish I had complained directly to a supervising body about how he treated me. He is a sports medicine guy, And I have a feeling that if that’s not what you’re therefore, you’ll be pretty well brushed off. This was a true case of rich doctor acting like a jerk.

I have mixed feelings about this doctor. He seemed to know what he was talking about but what I didn't like was the rushed attitude I felt during my visit. Another review stated how he was abrupt and even a little cocky. I don't care for that kind of quality. I would rather have a doctor listen to my concerns rather than think he knows everything. I'll be looking elsewhere for a Pcp.

Dr. Townsend appears to be a Doctor for all the wrong reasons. It seems that his primary focus is making money and not treating his patients. I feel like I am always "nickel and dimed" for everything. For instance, classifying an appointment as a "long" appointment when it lasted less than 10 minutes. Over the last 4 years, I have really lost faith in him as a doctor and will be looking elsewhere for services. Overall, it feels like the focus is on money and not healthcare.
