The most striking and obvious impression I received from Dr Tobin, was his honesty and kindness in explaining my medical problem. He did a brief but thorough exam of my shoulder & arm strength & range of motion. He then did a thorough exam of the MRI I had done on my arm in April. He clearly explained the findings from this test and provided me with options I could pursue. His comments were kindly explained & I left his office knowing I had chosen a great doctor for my medical issue!

Great communication-he showed the MRI on screen while explaining the anatomy and imaging findings. He did a thorough exam to assess extent of my injury. He talked through the next steps that would be taken for surgery and the plan of care for recovery.

Dr. Tobin is very friendly, personable and seems very concerned about my symptoms. I have been seeing him for the last couple of years for different situations regarding my knees and he has always been willing to deal with each situation as they have come up.

I've seen Dr Tobin twice for cortisone injections in my shoulder. Both times he was extremely pleasant and personable. He takes time to explain exactly what is happening on the ultrasound guided injections. Both injections were painless. He even took an extra 5 minutes afterwards to answer questions about my knee osteoarthritis options even though I was 30 minutes late for the appointment and he had to work me in. I love this guy!

Dr. Tobin is wonderful. He's friendly, quick and personable. I totally trust him to repair my shoulder. I have recommended him to my son who has the same symptoms as I do in his shoulder. In fact, I've recommended the clinic to friends with other problems.

Dr. Tobin was great. I was misdiagnosed by another Ortho Surgeon in AZ and Dr. Tobin gave me a cortisone shot for impingement in my left shoulder. I cannot thank him enough for diagnosing me correctly and relieving my pain and suffering. So grateful!

On 2-26-15, during right shoulder replacement, Dr Richard Tobin @ Hope Orthopedics in Salem, Oregon, lacerated my main shoulder artery, and I bleed 5 units of blood in the operating room. An emergency vascular surgeon was called in to fix the artery. Somewhere during the operation, my nerves were stretched leaving my hand partially paralyzed and numb, forearm numb, and one wrist muscle does not work. This Dr is ARROGANT; said in recovery room, "boy, you really made me work for my money today".

Well, at the consult when I first met him, he wasn't very friendly. I was referred by my chiropractor and I felt he was demeaning toward chiropractic. I had an auto accident and my injuries were from the auto accident. I had no problems in that area before that and it was a high velocity accident. I wasn't sure if I could trust him to actually perform the surgery and do a good job. But he did the surgery and so far I'm doing okay. He was more pleasant the day of the surgery.
