Dr. Richard J. Spelts Jr. spent maybe 15 minutes talking to me during my appointment (the rest of the time I talked to his nurse and his MA, so total appointment time was about 30 minutes) and charged me $ 1282 for that visit using some code for initial visit more than 30 minutes. Which is ridiculous, frustrating, and extremely disappointing. He definitely does not care about his patients if he can charge this amount for initial office visit without even making a diagnosis. I will need go to this office again. And will never refer my patients or my friends to this office because of my frustrating experience there.

Lack of empathy, condescending and combative when asked a question. Spent more time typing notes with his back turned than explaining the results and next steps. Wish I had started with a different doctor but he had an immediate opening which now I can see why.

This was the worse experience I had ever had. Dr Spelts was rushed and did not listen to my actual concerns. At first it seemed like he was because he was typing while I described issue but did nothing to help. I had to find a different doctor. Terrible and waste of time and money.

I would not recommend Dr Spelts. He blew me off and did not seem concerned about my health. I ended up getting a second opinion and found out that I had a dislocated knee and several torn ligaments that Dr Spelts rushed past.

I was surprised by Dr Spelts’ lack of empathy regarding my pain and issues with working as a result. He minimized my pain/concerns saying students with similar injuries had no issue so he couldn’t justify taking me out of work if they could go to school. I was shocked as I am a professional, middle aged woman, with benefits through my employer (that I pay into) and I told him I needed a week to get my mobility back and get ahead of the pain so I could perform at work and he refused. I felt unheard and left to navigate pain & mobility issues on my own. He’s not good with female patients so I would not recommend. Also, I was fitted in a new brace and told to walk/bend my knee but told him I cannot bend my knee myself or produce forward motion but he said gotta get moving. No instructions on icing or how long to wear the brace. Will seek second opinion and doctor who cares about all patients. I do not recommend unless you are a young white male.

Very unhappy with my Dr. Spelts. I went to see him to have osteopathic manipulation treatment, and was told that he doesn't actually do that because they don't have time for that type of work with current insurance issues. All I received from seeking out his care was a referral to overpriced physical therapy and a SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL. I can't even begin to tell you how angry and upset this makes me. I sat in his office, unable to move my neck and he offered no tools to help me get better.
