Dr. Richard Schaller Jr, MD

From my first appointment until after my surgery, I found Dr Schaller to be caring and very personable. Excellent communication skills and always contacts me when he receives results. I knew what his plan was for me on the first visit. His whole team was awesome.

Had a colon rupture while hospitalized for stroke symptoms. Had a second rupture while the nurses were ignoring me ( they were new nurse doing shift reports).His team flew in whisked me away I was in the OR in under an hour.Meeting him for the first time was amazing. He was able to calm me down re assured me and got it done. I’d put off resection surgery for years bc surgeons were hit or miss. So to me it was serendipitous that he was my surgeon.I’m so grateful to him and his team they pulled me out of a life and death situation. Apparently it was a complicated surgery but wow just wow. I’m healing nicely and it’s so great to have a surgeon I can truly trust.

No one wants a visit with a colorectal surgeon, but Dr. Schaller was knowledgeable, compassionate and an excellent communicator. Was seen on time and the staff was very friendly.

Well being that I had to go to another surgeon to have him explain that the softball sized lump that encompasses my whole stoma is an incisional hernia...NOT what I was told when I saw Dr. Schaller earlier on...who said it looked the same as the other side!!??????? I've had nothing but one complication after another since this whole train ride began last November. He needs to practice on his compassion as well. I felt like he treated my colostomy as if I had my tonsils out. He also needs to have a better understanding of the mental trauma one goes through when having a 'SURPRISE' colostomy. I'm sure he never had one so has no idea what one REALLY goes through. Like I say...I can make Tiramisu ....but have no idea what it tastes like because I don't have to eat it. And just for the record my stomach has NEVER been so messed up since this surgery. Thank you Dr. Schaller.

All around productive, no stress office visit. Doctor Schaller was open, honest, and was very communicative in responding to my questions, and in asking me questions. No long wait to see the doctor as everything was done in a timely manner. The office staff and the nurse were very friendly, and the experience was very pleasant, in general.
