Excellent Professionalism.
Very good experiences on two occasions. One minor general surgery and a more serious wound care experience from an accident. Staff professional, thorough and put me at ease. Have confidence in Dr. Ricca’s expertise and would recommend to friends and family.

Great doctor
I went to the er with stomach pain that turned out to be a small bowel obstruction. Dr. Ricca explained to me what was happening and what he will do. The laparoscopic surgery went well and I went home the next day with no pain and no down time. I’m very thankful to him.

Dr. Ricca performed my emergency appendectomy. His bedside manner is atrocious and he has no tolerance for patient questions. I was told my case was severe (necrosis, gangrenous). Post surgery, I asked Dr. Ricca for info (causes, recovery etc.), he was dismissive at best. His instructions for my release contradicted the surgical team. When I questioned him, he raised his voice at me. I reported him to the head of nursing and I also heard nurses discuss his behavior outside my room with no surprise. I was req'd to see him for a post-op visit. I asked again about causes, how I was so emergent, shd I worry abt future issues (my father died of pancreatic cancer) etc. His response was "I don't know what to tell you". He also told me that "when you're older, pain doesn't present in the same way". I am 45 yrs old & in very good health for the record. My PC physician called Dr. Ricca to review the case without a response. This was a NIGHTMARE only minimally encapsulated in this review.

I had a laproscopic inguinal hernia repair with mesh by Dr. Ricca. Less than 8 months later it appeared that my hernia was back so I saw Dr Ricca again. At first Dr Ricca was confused that he repaired the other side and this was a new hernia, I assured him that it was the same one. I waited 10 minutes while he went to find his report to confirm that I was correct. He then told me he would “repair the mesh”. The next day I asked for a copy of the operation report and the re-diagnosis report. For the re-diagnosis report I had to drive to Southampton and pay $3. The operation report stated that a piece of mesh was implanted that was possibly 4 times the size of what he originally showed me prior to the operation. The re-diagnosis report said that he told me he would implant additional mesh which he never told me, and that he had also advised me of the potential for chronic pain which also he never advised me. Obviously I found someone else for my second surgery in less than 12 months.

I was very fortunate that Dr Ricca was available to perform surgery and oversee my care during my hospital stay. His daily care, and concern to every detail of my recovery was outstanding. He truly saved my life. ( He had preformed surgery on my husband many years ago and was wonderful then as well)

Went in for stomach pains removed appendix but it turned out to be diverticulitis and then wanted to remove part of my intestine which I advised hospital staff not to have him come near me, went to another dr referred to me by a nurse and that dr treated the problem without surgery. I had another person who I worked with have the same thing happen to him.....I stay far away from him

WORST surgery I ever had! Ricca tried to remove my stomach lesions and did not properly use mesh but instead cut my stomach open and tore my muscles apart…and cut through the navel so I have no navel…just a bit of an indent. It was horrible and tomorrow I will be at NYU with Dr. Hofstetter and Dr. Carp to repair this.
