Very calm and caring doctor
He is very knowledgeable and explains things in a calm and clear way. Overall a great experience. His staff could be better informed though. It was difficult getting to him. They were not helpful.

Great Psychiatist!
I've been seeing Dr. Phelps since I relocated to FL approximately 5 years ago. He's by far the best, most thorough psychiatrist I've come across! In fact, I'm so satisfied with my treatment that I've recently started paying out-of-pocket because my health insurance has changed and the practice does not accept my insurance. This guy listens. He works with you to find root of the problem. He genuinely respects your wishes and concerns and always provides a comprehensive explanation re: any of his suggestions and/or medical advice. He provides in-depth psychoeducation with any medication he suggests or prescribes, and always respects my input and concerns. Dr. Phelps is patient-centered, which is a rarity in medicine, especially mental health. Whenever I have a follow-up, he genuinely speaks with me about my life, and I honestly believe that he has my best interest in mind. Dr. Phelps is a fantastic provider - I will remain under his care as long as long as I am able!

I went to Dr. Phelps because his website said 24/7 help and that’s exactly what he gives. A phenomenal doctor. On my first visit he said “from what you’ve told me I think there is something physically wrong with you and we need to fix that first before we can tackle your depression” and sure enough it turned out I had narcolepsy. Phelps is a brilliant doctor. He weaned me off of a lot of the medication I was on that I didn’t need and, after evaluating my DNA test, he figured out exactly what medications would help me . I’ve always felt you could tell everything about a doctor from his staff and Dr. Phelps staff told me “he has never taken a vacation without calling patients“ It is a blessing to have found him. I cannot recommend him enough.

A sad place to go for medical care. Arrogant psychiatrist who has a bad attitude. Wated my time and money. Tried to get a refund, threatened to take me to collections and even legal action. This is not the way a mental health professional should ask.

This “Doctor” or lack of, actually made me cry during my session for making me feel so bad as a person. He attempted to prescribe me a medication that is know to make people feel worse who have depression. On a follow up visit he would not let me stay past my allotted 15 minutes. I asked for my money back because there was no progress in my therapy, and he laughed at me... he actually laughed at me. This is not the way a pchyciatrist should act. Shame on you Phelps.

This doctor is terrific. He really cares about his patients. Gives them 100% and gets results. Cannot say enough good things about him. Caring, considerate, professional, knowledgeable. Whatever other words convey these thoughts, I invoke them all.

Don't bother calling, this office has the worst staff on the planet. They are rude, incompetent and negative. So if you're already in a depressed state they will just add to it!!! Unprofessional and uncaring.

He was my Psychiatrist in Mt. Pleasant and I adore him. I've gone through years of therapy and he was the only doctor that helped me. I was heartbroken when he left to Florida. By far, the most influential, caring, and humble doctor I have ever had.

The man is not just brilliant and professional; he's amicable, compassionate, and accommodating. Best of all, he LISTENS!! I recommended him to my very picky sister, and she adores him. I also recommended him to the entire staff of my school district. He's THAT amazing. Don't hesitate - just call Mary, the sweetie who runs the office, and let this gifted doctor help you.

I absolutely love Dr. Phelps. His sense of humor is hilarious, and he really cares for his patients. I would leave his sessions feeling so much better. I could go on and on about how awesome he is, but I only have 200 characters left. Highly recommend!!!

Dr.Phelps is new to Boca , I found him by googling about psychiatrist in area. I called to make an appointment, he told me about himself and his practice. The great thing is he is new to area so he is building clientele so it was super easy and fast to get in. He really listens!!! No one else ever listened like he did. Without getting into my personal information all I can say is I think he is great, he noted things that no other doctor ever did and I think it is going to make the change I need.

I am a new patient of Dr. Phelps who was seeking a Board Certified professional for anxiety issues. I am having a great experience with him- he listens to me, understands, and empathizes, and I leave feeling relaxed and optimistic. I find him trustworthy and patient and I would definitely recommend him to someone seeking a real down to earth doc.

I've been to numerous psychiatrists in the Charleston area, and he was the first to actually listen, see his appointments in a timely manner, and not over-prescribe drugs. He didn't just prescribe what others had before, but actually changed it, and I am so much better now. Can't even explain how much I appreciate everything he's done for me.

After going to Dr. Phelps a few times, I will not be going back. He is not even close to personable. He will prescribe without explaining why he has come to the conclusion for a particular medication. He dismisses what you say and quickly comes to his own conclusions. I have never had a bad experience with any doc before coming here. It is awkward as he tries to be personable, but easy to see that this is just not his personality.

I'm very surprised of the negative reviews on this site, but I guess that comes with the territory when you are dealing with patients that need psychiatric care. I personally had a fantastic experience with Dr. Phelps, he is very knowledgeable and was the first psychiatrist that was able to diagnose me appropriately and treat my illness effectively. I feel like a brand new person all thanks to him, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Phelps to anyone.

Dr Phelps was cold and indifferent. He acted like he knew all about me within the first 5 minutes of meeting me. He asked questions that had nothing to do with what I was talking about, and seemed to be more concerned with his professional liability than whether or not I actually was doing better! I came to see him feeling depressed, and left angry and frustrated. I actually told him what worked for me in the past, and he REprescribed it (anyone could have done that) but he doesnt care
