Look elsewhere!!
Dr. Panicco spent less than 4 minutes with me. He asked 3 questions but seemed uninterested in my responses. Used the wrong name, identified the wrong PCP, and when I asked 2 questions he behaved as if I was preventing him from doing something more important. On the day of the procedure he spent less than 2 minutes prior and about 30 seconds post. If you want someone with a humane approach this is not the practice you should consider. If you don't mind feeling like a faceless insurance payment then you'll be in the right place.

Unnecessary surgical procedures
Panico was responsible for my wife having a partial gastrectomy at Washington Hospital in 2006 for an ulcer that could have treated with I.V. meds. This was relayed to us in 2010 by her new gastroenterologist after we moved from the Washington, Pa. area. It became known that the team of Panico and Parisi at Washington Hospital were responsible for numerous unnecessary gastrectomy's done at Washington Hospital. Removing the Vegas nerve by doing unnecessary partial gastrectomy's and causing years of torment for all those this procedure was performed on due to Panico's zest to keep the surgical suite profitable.

No complaints
I was pleased with my procedure by Dr Panicco. It was my first colonoscopy, referred by my PCP. I have zero complaints about my interactions with him. His staff was friendly. The procedure went fine and he took the time to speak to me afterwards. I don't normally leave reviews but after reading all this unfortunate reviews I wanted to share my experience.

Dr. Panicco is absolutely the best! I was very sick with IBS for 2 months and immediately upon seeing him for the first time he knew what was wrong before he even did a colonoscopy! The colonoscopy proved he was right and with the right medication and diet I have been doing great!! I had a scare with some blood in my stool after the test and he said that it was probably internal hemorrhoids and again he was right. He has always taken the time to listen to me and answer any questions I might have and he is very caring. Dr. Panicco and his staff are great and I would DEFINITELY recommend him!!!! Thanks Dr. Panicco for making me better!!!!!!

Horrible. Dr. Panicco got assigned to me while admitted in St. Clair after the GI dr I originally dealt with went on vacation prior to my procedure. Dr. Panicco came into my room, asked some questions and changed the procedure I was to have, never explaining a thing. When I got to the GI lab and asked to speak with him. He came out and you could tell he was annoyed that I was questioning him. When I asked him why he was changing from an ERCP to an EUS he said well you don’t have pancreatitis, your numbers are normal, and the narrowing of your bile duct is no big deal. I said to him why was my lipase greater than 3,000-he said when was that. I said did you look at my chart and he admitted he did not. At that point I decided I didn’t trust him to make a decision about my health. No procedure was performed by him. I went back to my hospital room, talked with nurse and pcp and requested a new GI group for a second opinion.

It sickens me to give this man any star at all. Dr Panicco left a 7mm tear in my husbands esophagus in a routine endoscopy. He had his stomach pumped ( not something you ever want to witness ) and spent 2 days in the critical care unit of the hospital. He nearly bled to death. He never once checked on him after finding out. He is an aberration and should not be practicing medicine.

Dr. Pannico was disinterested to the point of seeming distracted during our visit. Because of this he missed a diagnosis of a rare gi disorder. This missed diagnosis led to a delay in correct diagnosis with unnecessary surgeries in the process.

No way! He NEVER looked at me, did an exam, shuffled papers & read the test requested by PCP. Gave me expensive Rx - $500 - said goodbye, & so did I! Many people I know who have seen him stated they bled after surgery because he nicked the colon. Doesn't belong in medicine any more!

All negative comments are true, he is not suitable for this job, he does make mistake on patiences operations and he did. He seems he doesnt care about them , he doesn' t spent time to talk with you and answer questions, he is not polite and professional to his staff and patience. Never trust him.

He was pretty rushed and only talked to me for a few minutes. The assisting nurses seemed to know what they were doing better than he did.

He rushed through my appointment. I went home in tears due to frustration. He’s the type of doctor to throw medication at you to treat the symptoms, not your issue. Good luck to those who chance it.

I wish 0 was an option because that would best describe his attentiveness and helpfulness. I had to have a second scope within a month of the first because he failed to read my chart and understand the issue I was having. He gladly did the second endoscopy a month later and charged the full amount for the second one. Bravo! You are one step closer to paying for your new facility and I am no better. STAY AWAY!

I saw Dr. Panicco today, 9/14/16. He spent a long time listening to my history and my current symptoms. He did prescribe new medications for me, but he also ordered a test for me. The staff has been friendly, courteous and helpful every time I have spoken to them. I did almost cancel the appointment because of the previous reviews. Luckily, I didn't cancel. I was very pleased with the visit in all respects with Dr. Panicco and his staff.

I would NOT recommend seeing this doctor. He does not take the time that he should with his patients during appointments. He rushes in and then rushes out of the appointment before actually finding out how your are feeling. He just wants to throw medicine at your symptoms rather than finding out what is actually causing them.
