I had a severe hip labrum tear. As someone who loves to exercise and play golf, being in pain was not optimal. In my first visit with Dr. Kang, he showed me the tear on my MRI scan, talked me through my options, and together we determined surgery was the only real option. Knowing I wanted to be able to rehab over fall and winter, we scheduled in early August. The morning of surgery, Dr. Kang came in to walk me through exactly what was going to happen and totally put my anxious mind at ease. The surgery went perfectly, and my rehab started right away. I was back to doing most of my favorite things within 4 and a half months. By five months, I was feeling better than ever. Last week, Dr. Kang released me at my 6 month check up, and I cannot be happier with the results. He truly gave me my life back and made it even better! Thank you, Dr. Kang! I would not have wanted anyone else taking care of me!!

Dr. Kang is an exceptional surgeon. He is a master of his craft and sincerely cares about the best possible outcome for his patients. He listens to his patients and is there every step of the way to give the best care possible.

Dr. Kang changed my life with the labral repair surgery on my hip! A year later and I am back to running half marathons with no pain or discomfort! Not only is he a highly skilled doctor but he is so kind, so smart, and so patient to sit with you and answer any questions. I highly, highly recommend him!

It has been two years since my ACL reconstruction. The procedure and recovery went just as Dr. Kang explained it would. Dr. Kang was kind and reassuring every step of the way. I was diligent about doing PT, but he totally fixed my knee! I would definitely return to him for another orthopedic issue.

Dr. Kang repaired my hamstring avulsion. During the first 6 weeks I emailed him a few times with questionsand he responded before the day was over. He is responsive, caring, listens to concerns and responds with clear language and always seemed concerned that I was being heard. He has a very pleasing bed side manner. He is clear about his expectations for recovery but uses his sense of humor to help with the emotional stress of serious surgery.I would recommend Dr Kang for any repair surgery!!

Wonderful surgeon. Him and his staff went above and beyond for my daughters surgery and healing. He expedited her surgery by coming in on his day off and kept a close eye on her recovery for six months. Highly recommend

Dr Kang has been so amazing to work with. I had multiple issues and he put together a dream team to do multiple surgeries at one time. Dr. Kang and his staff were so supportive of my daughter when she had to have surgery for a labrum tear. Surgery is always the last option for us and Dr. Kang was able to explain the steps and options for us to make the right decision for our family. She did end up having surgery with Dr. Kang and she is no longer in pain, wonderful speedy recovery, and she is back in her sport earlier than expected! Dr. Kang is thorough, thoughtful, and provided us with amazing results! My daughter misses him already!

Dr. Richard Kang is the absolute best of the best! He surgically repaired my hip labrum. Throughout the entire process, he made sure everything went well, from our first meeting, to the surgery, the physical therapy sessions, the post op visits, and the excellent communication. He focuses on every detail when it comes to helping patients heal and overcome injuries. He is also an excellent communicator. It has always been easy to get in contact with him. I'd highly recommend him and must say that Kaiser Permanente is very fortunate to have him. If I had to have another surgery, I wouldn't want anyone else.

Dr. Kang is an exceptional surgeon. I have had pain in my hip for longer than I’d like to admit. I had surgery to release my tendon and have had an excellent result. Dr. Kang is very thorough and knowledgeable. He will respond to any questions or concerns very quickly. I would highly recommend him for any hip repairs!

I read that a labral surgery can take a year to recover from, but I was cleared for sport at 6 months. If I need my other hip done, I’m going back to Dr. Kang

I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Kang for orthopedic surgery. His patience and extensive knowledge are truly commendable. I previously underwent surgery for the same issue with another physician, but unfortunately, it did not yield any improvements. However, after undergoing surgery with Dr. Kang, I can now run without experiencing any pain just three months later. Dr. Kang did a hip surgery for me in April 2023. Prior to meeting Dr. Kang I was in daily pain and had trouble walking and sitting. I am now able to walk and sit without any pain at all! Dr. Kang is truly a life changing doctor.

Dr Kang operated on my hip to repair two tears in the hip tendon and also to address some bursitis and tendinitis issues. I have had great results and am walking far better than before the surgery. I am back to hiking and feel quite good in my daily life. Dr Kang was very knowledgeable, kind efficient and patient. Despite what I am sure is a very busy schedule I never felt hurried by the doctor and his team. I would highly recommend Dr Kang to anyone!

Excellent surgeon. Dr. Kang did a psoas tendon release following THR two years ago. I was very nervous about the outcome. In my first appointment with him, he explained in detail what the surgery entailed and answered any questions. My only wish is that I would have done the surgery sooner because recovery was easy and I am pain free . I am getting back to an active life again—just as he said I would be. I highly recommend him as a very skilled surgeon.
