Dr. Richard Ford, MD

Doc Ford is an excellent Psychiatrist that helps me manage ADHD, keeps track of my mental and overall medical condition when determining a path to take. This is not a prescription-alone type of guy who just writes a scrip and cashes a check. He keeps me up to speed on new or developing options so that I can have the best path in treatment as an adult. Unlike MANY of the providers in my past, I sense zero stigma attached to the treatment of ADHD and I cannot underscore how pleasant it is to be treated like a human being rather than marginalized and scrutinized like a drug seeker or something less than a person. Doc Ford also has an impressive resume that starts with the best undergraduate and medical schools in the state. He is a home grown asset that returned to serve the lowcountry. Office visits are easy, the staff is quick and happy to help whenever I call in. Phone-visits are also a plus, when they fit into a mutually agreed upon strategy that accommodates my time and the Doc's need to track my treatment. The relationship between Medical/Psychiatric providers and patients is arms length by design, so we do not travel in the same social circle. I do believe that Doctor Ford would make an excellent friend, in a setting were I not a patient, however. I find Richard Ford's personality characteristics of being likeable, relatable, honesty, and integrity dovetail with education and skill in the field exceptionally well. It is worth noting that we live in a country with generally poor insurance coverage that puts the patient particularly behind the eightball regarding out of pocket expense for mental health. Doc Ford charges less than most, moreover, he is always ready to suggest programs that discount absurdly high prescription costs through manufacturer programs or third party solutions.

I have been seeing Dr. Ford for over two years and it has made a huge difference in my ability to live and enjoy my life. I would highly recommend him.

I found Dr Ford to be very arrogant. Seemed to more interested in billing hours and timing to get onto next patient rather than spend 15 minute son my issues. Would highly NOT RECOMMEND. Find an office and staff more interested in YOU vs themselves.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Ford. He is knowledgeable and caring.

Dr. Ford is fantastic. The staff and support is great. Highly recommended. Colloquially speaking, the guy is super cool.
