Very Thoughtful, Thorough
My experience with Dr Uppal was outstanding. Though not my reg pcp, it was obvious she took time to review my history before appt, asked great questions, offered recommendations for self care & made necessary referrals to specialists. Very grateful for her attentiveness & skill.

So, I love Dr. Uppal but The Portland Clinic is a pretty terrible place that is not interested in its patients. I hope she decides to move away from The Portland Clinic so she can care of her patients the right way (like she used to). I went to her for over 10 years but due to COVID-19 I was uncomfortable with going into the office and the one Zoom appointment the doctor simply did not come. After that, The Portland Clinic told me to find a new doctor because apparently, I was not giving them enough money. I am still unsure as to why that decision was made as any requests to find out more has been met with hostility.

I had an urgent condition that my own primary care would not be able to see me. Dr. Uppal came to rescue; we had a telemedicine. She was very thorough, attentive and asked follow up questions. Even though she could not physically examined me, she asked me to show her what and where the symptoms were. At the end of the visit, she prescribed a few more tests to do. I was skeptical about the necessity of one specific test, but it proved that she was right. I had my test done in the morning. by the evening the same day, she called to let me know the results of the test; some result I had never thought I would get and would require surgery. I really appreciated her for her professional knowledge, her ability to listen and ask questions. Most importantly, she respected me and did not negate what I thought. Thank you, Dr. Uppal! I am considering seeking you out as my primary.

I’ve seen Dr. Uppal for the past 5 years and she is the most professional, kind, and friendly doctor I’ve had. She listens intently and evidently takes amazing notes because she “remembers” the important details. Just shows you how well prepared she is before each visit. She is caring and patient. I truly feel well-cared for by her and her staff. I am lucky to have her in my network of physicians.

Refused to prescribe a migraine medicine to me, stating they were not healthful for me. This was in the middle of experience a series of debilitating migraines. Instead of resorting to begging on the phone, I saw the on-call staff doctor who said she could not figure out why I had not been prescribed them, that there were no contra-indications for me. Also, Dr Uppal is the worst kind of God Complex, old style physician, very much in need of exerting power over patients.

Dr. Uppal is very knowledgeable about holistic treatment solutions. She brings with knowledge, suggestions, and is upbeat and personable. She is very encouraging through the course of lifestyle changes needed to effectively manage chronic disease. She listens to my suggestions and is open to my ideas for treatment although she likes to review the science for herself. I have recommended her to a number of others. She's a great doc.

I really enjoy my visits with Dr. Uppal. She is the first physician I've had who approaches issues in a holistic way. She asks about your diet, your social support, chronic issues, mental health, and more. She's just more thorough than most doctors and doesn't immediately try to give you a pill to solve everything and rush you out the door. If you need medication, she will, of course, give you a prescription. But she is more than happy to refer you for massage, other body work, psych care, etc.
