professional, thorough, good communication
Dr Jacobs is an experienced, interested specialist. He gave thorough, informed attention to my condition; explained the differential diagnoses and treated me at that visit. He messaged me re follow-up options. His assistant was super efficient and caring. I wd say this is an example of the best in American medicine.

Condescending, dismissive, unprofessional Dr
I felt he was condescending, dismissive, unprofessional & rushed me. I asked him to please look at the 3 spots, & emphasized repeatedly that it would only take 30 seconds & politely requested he just have a quick look. He argued with me for at least 3 minutes & said that he would NOT look at them & I had to make another appt to have them seen as he had already had an appt with me. I stated that he had not even spent a full 10 minutes & this would only take 30 seconds & was not worth a repeat appt. I also stated that in the 3 minutes he argued with me he could have looked at the spots & gone on. He was literally standing in the doorway less than 5’ from me. He continued to argue rather than just provide the medical overview & opinion that would have taken less than 30 seconds. This was unprofessional treatment which will cause me to have to spend additional money & time just to get a 30 second opinion which could easily have been done today.

Rushed and Misdiagnosed
Dr Jacob rushes through appointments without doing a thorough inspection. Misdiagnosed ringworm for an autoimmune disease GA and said “ we could do a biopsy but I am 99% it’s GA” after 4 visits a simple case of ringworm was mistreated and spread throughout my body. After coming to the conclusion it was fungal rather than autoimmune instead of taking accountability he told me that I refused the biopsy. 5 months later I wish I went somewhere else to start, could have saved a lot of money and stressful nights.

Rude, rushed, condescending
Same experience as most others... This is a rude condescending practitioner. Only chose him because I'm new to the area and didn't want to wait 6 months for another provider. Rude nurses too, the poor attitude of this Dr is pervasive to the whole practice. Try another dermatologist if you have ANY choice in the matter.

Visited Dr. Jacobs on February 22, 2021 for removal of numerous keratosis or barnacles via liquid nitrogen. After his inspection, Dr. Jacobs took a biopsy of an area on my left cheek that he had some concern and after cutting out a section of skin on my left cheek he stated that based on his experience and the feel of the skin that it was non-cancerous. On March 2, 2021, I phoned Dr. Jacobs office because: (1) after the biopsy, every morning I was being awoken by a spontaneous bloody nose and/or choking on blood flowing out of my left nostril; (2) my left cheek was still numb and; (3) none of the growths that Dr. Jacobs addressed with liquid nitrogen were falling off. All my concerns, including the spontaneous nose bleeds were dismissed. In addition, I was then informed by Sierra that I, indeed, had skin cancer but nothing else. I was not told what kind of skin cancer, how fast it would grow, whether or not it needed to be addressed immediately, how long I would have to live, NADA!

He is insensitive and does not communicate possible diagnoses well with patients. He has little to no eye contact at all when discussing treatments, problems, etc. He misdiagnosed me multiple times and then would not even look at the diagnosis that I received from another out of network dermatologist and allergist (the correct diagnosis). I did not feel cared for in the slightest. His nursing staff is also inattentive. Good luck getting any follow up calls or emails as well. I left numerous messages through MyScripps and via phone and never received responses.

Doesn't like to communicate with patients, and won't return patient calls or emails directed to him through the clinic website. Any message to him goes through the clerical staff who decides whether or not a message should go on to a nurse, who told me he does not respond back to patients, but only responds to patients through the staff. I have not experienced this with any other doctor. When I would ask about a medication or ask about side effects, or other options when medications, injections were clearly not working, he simply ignored me. I went to him for about 2 years. I should have left sooner. Would not recommend this doctor.

Doctor Jacob is very rude and naive. He refused to insure his work on removing a cyst on my underarm. He ended up sewing it incorrectly. Arm got infected and I am left with gaping wound on my underarm. He would not see me unless he billed me again. I was laughed at in the office for requesting the exact charges I was going to be billed for.

Long story short is I thought I would try this clinic as it is close to my home in Point Loma. I went in on a Friday for some skin spots I was concerned about and had 2-biopsies taken. I was told I would be contacted within 1-week with the results. The following Friday I had not heard back so I called. The results had arrived and I was told I had a basil cell in one spot and a in situ melanoma on the other. I wanted to discuss with my wife the next steps and informed the office that I would contact them on Monday. I left 4-messages to have Kiara (Dr. Jacobs nurse) call me back on Monday. No call back. I left 2-messages on Tuesday to have someone call me back. No call back. I even went to the clinic at the end of the day to discuss my decision. I was told the dermatology staff was gone for the day and someone would contact me tomorrow. I was finally contacted Wednesday morning. It seems this clinic is under staffed. Not a good first impression for this new clinic.

Dr. Jacob saw my son for a skin rash. He appeared very knowledgeable however was somewhat insensitive. After applying a topical medication, my son cried complaining of a burning sensation at the site. Dr. Jacob stated curtly there is no burning from this medication. My son complained again this am regarding this. After some reading about this particular medication, skin irritation including burning (not just itching) is listed as a side effect. I would recommend him for adults not children.

Condescending doctor that does not explain anything. He is very quick to needlessly assign numerous medications, and when I asked whether there were any homeopathic methods I could try as I’m sensitive to medications, he snapped back “are you the doctor here?” He has zero empathy or regard for his patients or their well being, and is very robotic with his work. I’m baffled Scripps would hire someone so arrogant and insensitive.
