Subpar Podiatrist
Dr. Rickertsen is a nice guy, but questionable as a podiatrist. He recommended a toenail avulsion (removal) that was unnecessary since my toenail was detaching from the nail bed. The sad thing is the toenail would have grown back faster after the old toenail had fallen off naturally if he would have left the nail alone. Especially since there was no infection or fungus in the toenail. However, he recommended the nail avulsion (removal) and said it would be painless which was not true. Also, he said the toenail would grow back in a few months (3 to 6) which again was not true. Big toenails can take 12 to 24 months to fully grow back after a nail avulsion (removal). Save yourself the pain and get a second opinion from another podiatrist before you take any recommendations from Dr. Rickertsen.
