Dr. Rebecca Thomas, MD

Dr Thomas said she could tell by looking at me that I did not have cancer! I did. I had metastatic breast cancer but Dr Thomas wouldn’t listen. She refused me any exam or testing. I left my appointment crying because she told me I was wasting her time and not to come back to see her nor to “waste another doctor’s time.”

Dr. Thomas will not meet with her patients, nor talk with them by phone. She insists on using a video chat tool that does not work (calls dropped, can't reconnect, etc). After 3 frustating experiences using the video tool I suggested doing simple phone calls. She refuses. Because she won't meet with me or call me I sent my questions to her via Fairview MyChart. No response from her after waiting 2 weeks. Her navigator assistant told me she recommends finding another Oncologist. My perception is she wants me to find another Oncologist because I'm a medicare patient, but I don't know if that's the case. I strongly suggest avoiding Dr. Thomas!

I am sure she is very capable as a physician but she is so hurried it is impossible to ask her a question.

I have been fortunate to be a patient of Dr. Thomas for more than a decade. She is a compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable oncologist who truly listens and acts as a partner in care rather than an authoritarian. She always asks for my thoughts and is someone I know has my back. She has seen me through some difficult days and I’m grateful for her every day.

I could not have been happier with Dr. Thomas and the entire staff at M Health, Maple Grove. I, nor any of my family , ever felt like a number when being seen. With as many patients that are seen on a daily basis, I was always so surprised that they recognized and remembered us by name in passing. I have recommended many to Dr. Thomas.

Treated me for esophageal cancer and received excellent and compassionate care.
