Dr. Rebecca Shields is an exceptional ophthalmologist who combines professionalism with warmth and compassion. Dr. Shields is the best Ophthalmologist I've ever been to. I have a family history of Glaucoma which left one of my parents blind. Dr. Shields takes the time to answer all my questions and explain this disease in terms that I can understand. She guided me through a suggestion to treat my own glaucoma with a laser procedure that worked perfectly, She spends time asking about my family and my medical history and other issues, and sees me as a whole person to be treated - I would recommend her whole heartedly.

My wife and I are both patients of Dr. Shields. She is incredibly smart, professional and caring. She spends time explaining what she is doing and answers any and all questions we have. She is everything you want in a doctor. She performed a procedure on my wife that completely cured her eye condition and eliminated the need for eye drops that had been prescribed by another doctor. We can't recommend her highly enough and regret that we can only award five stars.

When scheduling, Greenwich Ophthalmology Associates does NOT HAVE THE HONESTY to ask a patient about general health and to inform a patient that Dr. Shields will NOT do any difficult, highly skilled, eye surgery at the Holly Hill location or Greenwich Hospital for any patient whose general health is less than 100% perfect. But, G.O.A. will schedule expensive tests, knowing that a patient with less than perfect health will have to go to another university hospital to repeat the same tests, which is exploitative and draining to patients, and creates unnecessary delays. All of this is harmful to their overall health and inexcusable.
