Dr. Rebecca Jeffers, MD

I’ve seen Dr Jeffers three times and also exchanged messages with her through the patient portal. She is professional and thoughtful, she listens closely, and she explains in detail. She has helped me improve my health dramatically. I feel comfortable asking for more clarity when needed. I feel like she sees me as a person. I have also felt that I can be honest with her when I’m struggling. I’m very happy to have found Dr Jeffers.

Took the time and listened to the issues I was concerned with getting the A1c under control. Wrote a detailed chart, investigated possible causes, and got meds updated. A1c under control, losing weight, working to eliminate insulin.

Excellent. Did a thorough exam, listened to all health issues, prescribed meds for osteoperosis, as well as X-rays to check for compression fracture of the spine. Spent a sufficient amount of time to listed to all issues. Very considerate personality.

Dr. Jeffers did not listen whatsoever to my medical history or symptoms. She insisted on recommending cutting my thyroid medication and putting me on hormonal birth control - which is contraindicated for thyroid medication due to increasing thyroid binding globulin and reducing free T4 and T3. This is an approach that landed me in the ER three weeks ago with a $17,000 bill, losing my ability to stand and walk from dropping thyroid levels. But she insisted on it again anyway, ignoring everything I’d told her about my symptoms. She accused me of finding “misinformation” on the internet - when the information I had was from the drug manufacturers themselves, and trusted sources like the American Thyroid Association and the Cleveland Clinic. She refused to consider standard thyroid testing like T3 levels, was obsessed with TSH only, and insisted on removing medication I’d been stable on for years as my only treatment option. I walked out with no help. Her lack of insight and consideration of symptoms is harmful to patients. Doctors who don’t listen to patients end up eroding patient trust, causing avoidable harm, and wasting patients’ time. I will not be coming back because I can’t have a relationship with doctors who ignore my medical history and insist on recommending harmful treatment plans that I have already tried and resulted in debilitating symptoms. This is why people hate the health care system in this country. I begged for help from Dr. Jeffers - even to just keep my current dose the same while we continue testing for other illnesses - and was told my only option was a treatment plan I already knew would make me much sicker. I have yet to find an endocrinologist in Denver who will work with patients with complex cases based on symptoms. Dr. Jeffers was of no help whatsoever.
