I had a needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren's contractures in both hands. Dr Metz did an excellent job, provided clear expectations, was caring and personable.

Dr. Metz and staff at Core are terrific
For many years, I had a growth on my left hand index finger that resembled a wart or nevus. My dermatologist try to freeze it multiple times but it still came back slowly over the years. They suggest I find a hand specialist, which lead me to find Dr. Metz at Core in my Cigna PPO network. First visit doctor simply examined the finger, took X-rays, and did an ultrasound of the finger to see if he could determine a diagnosis - x-rays and scan looked clear. To avoid future issues he recommended we remove it. Follow-up visit in Elks Grove Village for surgery was easy. Dr. Metz fully scrubbed up (which is something my derm never does). Dr. Metz removed the growth and sutured the small incision with great care and precision. Follow-up visit was simple - stitches removed and confirmed diagnosis of scar tissue/nevus. Would NOT hesitate to see doctor or recommend him or the Core Orthopedic Group for any future medical needs.

Not the best encounter
I felt like he was not as friendly as last year. I’m not sure if he had a bad day, but didn’t really smile, and just dismissed my problem quickly. He was fine, but I felt like my problem was so minor that he didn’t want to waste any time with me. I was done in less than 10 minutes.

Dr. Metz is very attentive and personable, with a good sense of humor. He answered all my questions clearly and thoroughly, and didn't seem rushed at all. He performed endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery on both hands (2 weeks apart) and I am very happy with the process, start to finish.

Dr. Metz was marvelous with the surgery on my hand. Professional with diagnosis, execution of surgery and post op. Personable, dry humor, and caring. I was so excited the pain was minimal and was able to do exercises for recovery with ease. I highly recommend him for your issues related to hand, wrist, and upper extremities.

I broke my wrist 2.5 years ago, June 12, 2018, and had surgery performed by another doctor on June 18, 2018. The pain in my wrist never fully subsided and I also experienced frequent pain up my forearm which never existed previous to the injury. After dealing with the pain and discomfort for 2.5 years I researched and found Dr. Metz. Saw him for the first time on November 17, 2020. Leaving this review on January 21, 2021. After some quick diagnosing, Dr. Metz put me on a course to have zero pain in my forearm and my wrist is as strong today as it's ever been. Only wish I'd found him for my original surgery. Dr. Metz, his staff, and physical therapist Betsy are great. Would highly recommend.

After 10+years of suffering from carpel tunnel on my right hand it got the the point where surgery was the only option. I was referred to Dr. Metz by my neurologist. Dr. Metz did all of the required tests, xRays, EMG's on both hands, standard tests, etc. before providing me with the hard facts that surgery was the best option again in order to lead a normal life. At 52, I could not imagine continuing with this pain. He thoroughly explained the procedure and when the time came to operate, he and his surgical staff had the best bedside manner I have ever experienced. He was professional, funny and made me feel very relaxed. The recovery was great, pain was minimal. He is definitely a Dr. that takes pride in his work and the outcome. I feel very fortunate that I was referred to him and would recommend him in heartbeat!

Dr.Metz is an amazing surgeon who corrected my wrist in a most successful operation. In addition He is an excellent communicator taking all the time you need to understand and be comfortable in learning everything the patient questions and surgical procedures. The Genoa City, Wis. surgical location and his staff there are very professional. My surgery there was more personal and efficient than being in the hospital. Very safe, best care ever - a great experience for what could be a nervous day.

Dr Metz operated on my fractured humerus and dislocated elbow. I have regained about 90% use of the arm/elbow after the insertion of 2 plates and numerous screws. Dr Metz was excellent in explaining the surgery, lasting effects and the effort to regain strength. He also directed me to a specific physical therapist to ensure my recovery. I highly recommend him.

I found Dr. Metz on my own. My previous orthopedic retired. Dr. Metz appealed to me by his overall demeanor in his video presentation through CORE. His credentials were impressive as well. Dr. Metz is extremely down to earth, caring, compassionate, and actually listens to what you have to say. He doesn't just "hear" you. There is a difference. He treats you as a person, not just a symptom. I have multiple autoimmune diseases, as well as a complex history of orthopedic surgeries. Symptoms and tests have often overlapped each other, as well as produced false negative results. Dr. Metz believed in me, and pushed forward where other doctors did not. It turns out, I had a great deal of nerve damage and needed surgery. I will be forever greatful to Dr. Metz.

Both my husband and I have been patients of Dr Metz Jr. He is a remarkable physician/surgeon. His examinations are very thorough and he articulates his findings and proposed treatment plan in a manner easy understood. The surgical skills he has are cutting-edge. His demeanor is very professional and yet he possesses a very caring personal approach to each individual he treats. His personality is easy going and he has a wonderful sense of humor. A visit to either office is a pleasant experience. Hospital surgical staff as well as therapy staff speak very highly of him. He is a 10+ on our list of physicians.

I saw Dr. Metz for a torn tendon in my thumb that caused it to get stuck in the bent position. He repaired my hand and now I have full function. He also released a trigger finger for me earlier. I highly recommend Dr. Metz for any type of hand surgery and all of the Core Orthopedic staff. All of the doctors there are extremely knowledgeable and competent surgeons. The physical therapy staff is great as well.
