Medicare visit. Decker walked in said I know your problem you’re fat I’m sending you to a surgeon. Had another visit for a cold I asked about a heart issue, he said “why do women come in and have 2-3 complaints”Returned today for recommendation for weight loss surgery that he referred me to previously & he said You won’t be successful you need to look at your mental status. He tried to tell a joke about being crazy but I wasn’t paying attention by then and left

Not very personable
On a positive note, I will say that he always referred me to good specialists if necessary. But he always seemed rushed or annoyed and just not very personable. He never did anything medically that made me question his judgment, but the doctor-patient relationship just wasn't smooth and I didn't feel comfortable discussing my issues with him.

I wish I had better things to say. He minimized a problem I was having. I went to a specialist anyways. They told me that his advice would not only make it worse but it isn't an issue that would heal on its own. He also got my prescription refill wrong. He's probably fine to go to if you have an ear infection or minor issues but in my case, he didn't give me good advice and he could have done further harm - and to me, that's really not okay. His assistant was also in the room the entire time which was distracting because she kept leaving and leaving the door open. It was very unprofessional. Go to a doctor that will take your concerns seriously.

I've seen him many times. He always seems annoyed. Never asks about me or my life. Don't know how he is a family doctor. Just wants to rush me in and get me to leave. Had a serious neck surgery and has never asked me how I'm doing. I talk to him about his family (his photos on the wall) but he never asks me about mine. I always feel like I'm an annoyance to him. Worst bedside manner ever. Never friendly, always impatient and annoyed.

Decker is a businessman first. Most recently, he swindled me into an unnecessary x-ray, only to tell me absolutely nothing about my injury and recommend me to a PT. Not one inkling of information regarding the ONLY reason I came in. He doesn't care about the problems of his patients; he cares about the bottom line.

Dr. Decker supervised all nurse practitioners at Family Practice Associates, Midlothian, VA. When my nurse practitioner left the practice, Dr. Decker dismissed me from the practice despite my being told by my nurse practitioner I would have no problems receiving trtmt from any provider at that practice, including Dr. Decker, as I had always been cooperative, done everything I was suppose to, had no history of any problems, had followed my trtmt plan, and had no problems with any scheduled medication (III, IV) I was on. I have never had any problem with any dr or practice. Yet Decker dismissed me without any stated cause. Dr. Decker engaged in patient abandonment without cause resulting in a harmful situation as I was unable to get prescriptions needed. Inexcusable!

I have been a patient of Dr. Decker for fifteen years and find him to be not only one of the most knowledgeable physicians I have ever been to but also an excellent diagnostician. Unlike most physicians these days, other than concierge medical providers, he takes an active interest in his patients families and lives, which as a medical professional myself, I find refreshing and necessary to develop a multi-modal perspective of his patients, ensuring accurate treatment and diagnosis.

I have to say that in my experience with doctors and I have seen many, I find Dr. Decker to be one that I can truly say I trust with my health care. He is very caring and is sincerely concerned with both my medical well being and my state of mind. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is in search of a Doctor who truly cares about his patients and is not just another "number" as most doctors today are.

I see some reviews that are very negative about Dr. Decker. I am have been going to him for years. All I can say is don't go to him if you want a Doctor that is going to sugar coat everything for you, because he is not. He is going to tell it like it is, so go find another doctor if you want to hear less then the truth so it makes YOU feel better. I love this guy, I am relaxed and have never had any issues with him.
