Since 2019, very pleased with my results
Long time KP member, now Medicare. Dr Bains has performed multiple extensive spinal fusion surgeries on me since 2019. In 2019, 15 straight hours doing ALIFs and PLIFs with rods from upper back to pelvis. In 2023, 10 more hours of spine surgery to replace broken rods (not Bains fault - rod material) plus some neck surgery. I no longer depend on a walker but just use a cane. I haven't had the post-op infections or complications that I have heard other patients report. These long technically demanding surgeries are what Dr. Bains excels at and Kaiser is lucky to have him. Once I became an established patient, Dr. B has always responded to my emails as soon as reasonably possible. He is a man of few words so sometimes I don't get as complete an answer to my questions as I need. But he has gotten me out of much pain and restored function, so overall, I am pleased with my results.

Sharing b/c I would have wanted to know: (you’re first drive is to get out of pain; therefore you seek a kind & caring soul willing to help!) My advice is do your due diligence in researching choices This Dr. Is all pretense: compassionate, Responsive, attentive, caring until your term of care is complete. When follow up concerns related to prior procedures need medical attention post recovery, those same accolades prove to have been superficial; a false front, limited in scope. once your case is “successfully” closed, unknown by you, you’re left in the cold, with no return contacts, no referrals, an unwillingness to adequately assess follow up care directly related to the procedure you’ll had. The once friendly staff is instructed to cut you off and now becomes cold
