Horrible Bedside Manner
As a first-time mom at 27, I felt pressured into making decisions during my labor that I wasn't comfortable with. I was simply asking questions about an induction, and instead of a clear explanation, I was told, 'you're doing one,' despite other doctors agreeing that it wasn't necessary. When I asked for more details, she responded dismissively, saying, 'why would you do an induction if you didn't want one?' It felt as though my concerns weren't being heard, and she proceeded with decisions without giving me the information I needed. After a long labor, she told me I needed a c-section, but other nurses and doctors disagreed. Thankfully, I was able to give birth vaginally without complications, but the lack of communication and respect for my wishes was frustrating and stressful.

Wonderful, caring doctor
I saw Dr. Schowengerdt to figure out my options to control endometriosis pain without hormones. I am a very complicated case due to several competing medical problems. I've lived with pain for so long I can hardly remember not having an ache in my abdomen. She took the time to discuss several options with me and together we chose a hysterectomy. Her care and follow-up from the first visit through surgery recovery has been wonderful. I highly recommend her if you need a doctor that actually cares about how you feel and will tell you the truth about your options.

Unprofessional
I have seen her 3 times for my yearly exam and the last time when talking about my hormone replacement prescription she did not explain why she wanted me off of them. After I left I got a call from the pharmacy about my prescription changing. She never talked to me about this. Seemed like it was her way of being in control which has caused several issues with my symptoms. Very unprofessional.

Visit was very rushed. Bedside manner was poor. She was very cold and left me feeling helpless. She did not listen to my concerns. I completely wasted my time on my apt. I have seen her in the past but things were very different this time. I could tell she was on a 10-15 minutes schedule per patient and my concerns didn’t fit in that time period....however, because I brought up some questions (that related to my wellness check up) they were able to bill me for additional services. And trust me the extra time for those services was not given. So sad. It felt like I was in a factory.

I would not recommend this doctor to a first time mother. I saw her a little over a year ago and she lacks in bedside manner. I asked the doctor a question about baby movement. Her answer to me was to refer back to the sheet I received at my first 8 week appointment. The following appointment I asked a question about cold medicine and was again referred to a sheet of paper. I decided to leave this practice as I did not feel comfortable having her deliver my baby.

Absolutely phenomenal experience with Dr Schowengerdt and her entire staff. I could not have asked for better care! They listened to my concerns, ran the appropriate tests and had a treatment plan in place before I left the office. She is absolutely the best OBGYN I have ever had. Highly recommend!

I had her for my 2nd son. Overall, it was professional but cold experience with all the drs. She "delivered" my son July 2017. I'd never met her before. He came 10 minutes before she got there. At my post partum appt, I asked about a breakthrough bleed which might be a have signaled my first period (which I explained was vital to know for my natural family planning method). She brushed it off very quickly as though there was no way to know (later a fertility RN gave me actual advice). Then she asked me my BC method. I repeated it was NFP. Her response "well that's not effective I suggest you used an additional contraceptive like condoms". I was angered because I assumed an OBGYN would have some awareness that nearly all NFP users morally object to hormonal/barrier BC. I hope she reads this because 2 years later, I'm still insulted that a professional in women's repro health would be so dismissive of my repro concerns and completely ignorant of NFP. Marquette method is 96% effective.

I had limited experience with her, after an appointment during my pregnancy discussing my birth plans to have an unmedicated experience and seeking advice to prepare she replied with "you don't get a medal for having a med free birth. many women just want one for the bragging rights and no birth makes you superior to another, it just makes others feel bad." I avoided appointments with her after this discussion, knowing she would not be able to empower me to have the birth I longed for & I did not want to be encouraged to have interventions I did not need. (I did have a successful unmedicated birth.)

Late review, but have to say she is the most genuine, empathetic, easy to get along with doctor. She was very pleasant and funny/makes you feel comfortable! My daughter was born December 2016 and she was on call that night. I just had my appt at 4:30pm..my daughter came super fast at 10:17pm. Dr. Schowengerdt came rushing in in shock that I was ready to deliver my daughter...all natural....9#10oz. She made it so easy!!!

Dr. Schowengerdt delivered my little girl va cesarean May 2018. She is so sweet and such a good doctor. Made me feel really comfortable considering it was the first time I had met her when I was in labor. I even run into her from time to time outside the office and she always makes a point to say hi! I will definitely be going back to her for my next baby!

Dr Schowengerdt is amazing. She delivered my second son in January 2017, I was in so much pain because it was too late for me to get an epidural, due to my fast labor. she made sure I was aware of everything going on. She has a good bedside manner, she is kind and compassionate. I honestly love all the Drs in that practice, that I have seen all through my pregnancies. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have been a patient for 12 years and I have had the best experience.

I moved to The area almost 8 months pregnant, so I started seeing Dr. Schowengerdt late in the game. She was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable. I was lucky and she was at the hospital when I went into labor. I had a wonderful experience with her as my doctor. I also appreciated her nurse. There were a few times I was in tears from standard pregnancy woes and she was great a calming me down and making me laugh.
