Received a surprising billing after a long time my surgery was done, with a absurd amount of balance due which should have been sent to my insurance company.

Meniscus Surgery at Stanford HC in Livermore
Dr. Randall Choi, MD was very nice gentleman when he came in to explain what to except under a general anesthesia and what they will be doing prior, as well as to what to except when I wake up, he kept asking if I had any questions. When I went into surgery, he again explained everything they had good music playing Pink Floyd and he made me feel very relaxed. Before I knew I was in the recovery room, feeling great. You never know when you go under, but I felt save and in good hands with Dr. Choi and his team. Thank you very much!!

On 12/03/2020 at approx 3:50p.m., Randall Choi was assigned as my anesthesiologist. During the pre-op discussion regarding any allergies, I proceed to inform him of post-op issues with anesthesia I have experienced after past surgeries. He immediately cuts me off (mid-sentence), holds up both hands in front of me, and shouts, "You don't need to worry about it! I'm going to give you exactly what you need!" Prior to entering the operating room he asked me if I wanted a sedative prior to surgery (I have never been asked that before), thus I responded as not being sure and I would let him decide. He shouts (with a nurse present), "What do you mean it's up to me!? This is for you! Make up your mind!" Upon entering the operating room, he states, "You know what your problem is!? You're too agreeable!" As a person who respects the medical community, it is disappointing to encounter someone as rude, unprofessional, and lacking in bedside manner.

Excellent "bedside manner." Called me the night prior to check up and see if I had questions or concerns about the procedure. Nice calming discussion and I thought that the call was extremely unique and thoughtful. Coming out of anesthesia this time seemed a lot less stressful than times prior. --just seemed like a short pleasant nap even though I was down for about 3 hours.
