According to my insurer, Mays Dermatology has collected hundreds of dollars from me that they were not entitled to. Every time my son had an appointment, they insisted I pay their balance before he was seen, even though my EOBs said they had already received full payment for the series of procedures. They have refused to refund my co-pays. Oh, and my son's skin condition is still not resolved five months later.

After suffering from a rare skin issue for years, and seeing multiple dermatologists I decided to see Dr. Mays. She was able to diagnose me after looking at my skin for literally 15 seconds. She biopsied a section to make sure, and her diagnosis was correct! Every other dermatologist gave me a steroid ointment commonly known for treating eczema. She put me on a different medication and the issue I’d had for over 7 years has completely cleared up in under 3 months. She’s brilliant and so kind! I’m so grateful I decided to visit her office. Her and her staff are super friendly & really seem like they are committed to patient care. Highly recommend!

Dr Mays was rushed and made it evident time was most important to her. She focused more on her assistant than me. She very quickly diagnosed the problem then told her nurse what to do. Never did she explain a thing to me. In and out that was it. I asked two questions she was . Im sure the visit took less than 5 minutes! very disappointed! I had heard she was the best!

I wish I would’ve read the reviews below to not have wasted my time and money with Dr. Mays. Her front desk staff is amazing! Lovely personalities up there and they do their job great. You’ll have no problem setting up an appointment, which can be difficult at other dermatologist.. but still NOT WORTH GOING. Dr. Mays won’t spend anytime with you. She talks to her assistant in front of you like you’re not there. When you talk, she talks over you the entire time talking to her assistant. When you ask questions and try to slow her down to actually be present with you, she gets frustrated and will still cut the conversation short. Her assistants aren’t trained/educated and can’t answer your questions. And that’s who you’re left off with after Dr. Mays makes her short appearance. I get running a business is always going to be motivated by money... She obviously tries to make a high-end dermatology office. But there is nothing high-end about the service. Don’t waste your money.

I have been a patient for 2-3 years. I Completely trust Dr Mays with my skin health. I think the office worked through some kinks, and they have improved their processes. I’ve always found Dr. Mays to be friendly and willing to take the time to discuss conditions and procedures, and I find the staff to be very accommodating.

I strongly believe that Dr. Mays cares more about having patients in her office than caring about the patients in her office.  She told me I have rosacea & that I needed to throw out all of my current skincare routine products & buy all of her specially compounded products. I also had a mole removed with Dr. Mays that came back abnormal, so she performed an excision on the area. Let's just say, there was nothing symmetrical or clean about her suturing skills. Lastly, when asking if she could freeze a wart on my foot while I was there, she told me I would need to book a completely separate appointment for a 30-second procedure.  After seeing Dr. Mays, I transferred my care to another provider. The new dermatologist I transferred care to happily froze it for me the same day I saw her for other concerns & confirmed I don't have rosacea. I’m not sure what is driving Dr. Mays’ care, but if she provided more holistic patient care, everyone would be a lot more satisfied, including herself.

Office does NOT follow COVID precautions. When my child woke up with fever and I had to cancel appointment to get him tested, they ENCOURAGED me to bring him in still, or pay to reschedule. Dr. Mays spends 2 min in the room after running 30min to hour behind, gets angry when you ask clarifying questions and then runs out saying her MA will write it down. And her staff have no clue what she wants her patients to do. She may be good at cosmetics but would run far away if you want a doctor who cares, listens or respects their patients. And even though they advertise for kids and she’s a mom herself, they have no patience for children. There are many other dermatologists in town, don’t make the same mistake I did with wasting your money and time with Dr. Mays.

She will literally spend less than 5 minutes with you. She does not read your chart and then makes a few abrupt statements about treatment options though in less than 5 minutes how confident can you feel about her recommendations? Her bedside manner is lacking and her staff whom she leaves behind to "answer questions" do not have the knowledge or expertise to actually explain the treatment plan to you. For example I asked if the product was hypoallergenic and her staff had no clue. I have 1 follow up after a recommendation of two expensive products which I will keep just to give her the benefit of the doubt but there is a reason she has so many 1 star reviews.

I've never been a patient at a more unfriendly, money hungry medical practice such as this. You can feel the unfriendliness as soon as you walk through the door where they demand payment before you even sit down. Dr. Mays seems extremely qualified, however, she only spends about 2 minutes in the room with you and seems less than genuine in her care and concern for patients. I decided to invest in a laser procedure to remove spider veins and was told it was highly effective. Results were minimal even after a 2nd treatment at no charge yet they refused to discuss options for how to resolve my dissatisfaction. On another occasion I was overcharged my copay for an insurance covered procedure and had to request reimbursement which should have been automatic. Two days after I stated I would no longer continue to be a patient I received a letter saying they refused to treat me. Funny, considering I fired them.

She has a terrible bedside manner. I am a young adult and had to have my mom come in with me for my follow up appointments so Dr. Mays would listen to me. She would talk over me when I would try to comment on something. She also leave the room before you can finish asking her your questions. She just had me keep coming in for follow up appointments and never asked questions or listened to me so I saw no progress and went to a different dermatologist. Between the new dermatologist and Dr.Mays there was a night and day difference. The new dermatologist took her time, listened, asked me tons of questions, took time to educate me, and her office even called me 2 days later to follow up and see if the medicine was helping.

Horrible! I would not recommend this practice to my worst enemy. There billing system is awful and the staff are uneducated. They took my money out of my account when I specifically asked if I could make the payment the following week, causing my account to overdraw. They are not flexible in helping the patient out, they are overpriced for procedures and spent no time listening to reasons I was there. When I called to discuss with the billing person she raised her voice and when I asked for them to cancel my follow up she stated they already had!! I never write reviews and this was one I would not pass up the chance to warn others.

Go anywhere else. ANYWHERE. She spent about 2 minutes with me, literally I am not exaggerating, then prescribed a very expensive stem cell implant procedure (not covered by any insurance) and flew out of the room. It was a total joke. I went on here after my appointment and the other reviews are spot on. I have no clue how she has received any awards or recognition for her field.

Pros: beautiful office with a fun vibe with their Sonos playing throughout. They were able to get my husband into their schedule quickly. Cons: They make it virtually impossible for you to book an appointment with a real-life person and speak to a person. The med assts try to prepare you for Dr. Mays abruptness, rudeness and overall inconsiderate bedside manner. She waltzes in and asks you a few questions and when answering, talks over you to her asst. She is the antithesis of thorough and kind. I feel robbed that our insurance is probably going to be billed a very large sum and the care was beyond dismal Bottom line: If you want a THOROUGH exam and a kind, caring, listening medical professional, stay far away from this place. This MD is probably the worst or the second to worst in terms of the list of medical professionals we have seen, and we have seen close to 50 for my husband’s chronic medical conditions.

She has no bedside manner. I had questions an she just kept working her way out the door. Spent maybe 5 minutes with me on my first appt. my second appt about 5 minutes (if that much) I finally had my list of questions and I told her I had these questions. Her response “ my nurse can answer them” and out the door she went. I don’t know how she stays in practice. Luckily I was referred to a wonderful dr and he was kind, answered my questions and he spent over an hour with me

Horrible experience!! She couldn’t care less about her patients. My child was experiencing some issues, and she gave me the run around. I honestly believe that she knew what we were dealing with at the first appointment, but she had us back multiple times for “follow-ups.” Each time she barely spent 3mins. examining him and acknowledging my concerns. Our last appointment she was literally in the room for 2mins., (I timed it). When I stopped by the front desk to check out, they charged me an additional $26, on top of the $90, that I had just paid before going back. I asked what the $26, was for and the girl at the front couldn’t give me an answer. I had her ask Mays, and she said it was because the diagnosis had changed. She had barely even looked at my child during the visit, but apparently it’s an extra fee for her to say “oh, I actually think we are dealing with xyz, as opposed to what I’ve been telling you.” I don’t know how she sleeps at night. STAY FAR AWAY!!

If you would like to speak with a real person instead of using a machine plan on being put on hold for a long time! Called twice to cancel an appointment, was put on hold once for over 10 minutes and second time for 15 minutes with no answer. Still got a bill for being a "no show"

Do not recommend. Paid for consultation, but Dr. Mays spent a total of 3 minutes with me. She recommended expensive treatments and products, but didn't bother to explain them to me, instead leaving that to staff that could not provide the proper instructions. Dr. Mays also prescribed me a pill that I had a severe adverse reaction to. Her nurse on staff never called me back to address my concern and when I tried to schedule an appt with the Dr., I was told I'd have to pay. Paying for her mistake.

I really don’t recommend Dr. Mays! She came in and started talking and never really actually spoke to me directly. She also- without me asking!- told me I have my skin condition because “it’s most common on obese people and smokers. So I suggest stop smoking and lose weight” Like I’m overweight, but I’m very healthy! Also, I hardly smoke and I’m trying to quit. But she didn’t ask about that or care. I walked out $200 less with another $100 follow up appointment and nothing solved.
