Forever Grateful
My cardiologist found that I had a bicuspid aortic valve with severe regurgitation, an ascending aortic aneurysm, and an enlarged heart. I was very nervous when I heard I would need open heart surgery at just 42 years old with my wife and young children depending on me. He introduced me to Dr. Veeragandham, and I couldn't be more grateful that he did. What struck me first about Dr. Veeragandham, and has not left me since, is his kind and gentle character. He strikes me as a good, humble man. He was very patient with all my nervous questions and explained everything to my satisfaction. He and his team performed a bicuspid aortic valve repair (not replacement), and replaced my ascending aorta with a synthetic graft. It's been 3 and a half months since the operation, and I'm already fully back at my physically strenuous job and going hard again at the gym. I trust Dr. Veeragandgam and I don't say that lightly. I will be forever grateful for the extension on life he has given me.

The Best
I was very scared when I was told that I needed open heart surgery to repair my mitral valve. I had been to so many doctors who had said so many different things. But then I met Dr. Veeragandham. He spent an hour talking to my husband I about what was my problems and how he could fix the problems. He laid out a plan for all of the tests I would need and what the surgery would look like.It was a lot of work, but by the time I went into surgery, I knew I was ready and I knew Dr. Veeragandham was the best person for the job.He is so caring and concerned. For the 6 days I was in the hospital after surgery, he saw me at least once a day and had his PA also following me. My life is so much better because of Dr. Veeragandham. I am forever indebted to him and his wonderful staff. I am so grateful that there are people like Dr. Veeragandham out there dedicating their lives to this work and they are available to us.

One of The Very Best
Not only is Dr. Veeragandham a very skilled and gifted surgeon, he is one of the most caring and sincere people you will ever meet. It's so important to have confidence in your surgeon and we had no doubt we were in the best possible hands. This was reinforced by everyone we met as we made our way through the system. He is extremely well respected both inside and outside of the hospital. His bedside manner is one of caring and consideration. Pre-op he focuses on what needs to be done and why. My aortic value replacement was a complete success, with Dr. Veeragandam adapting to conditions discovered during surgery for a perfect outcome. He communicated with my family during the 6 hour surgery with updates and information. Post op he was genuinely glad to see me and happy I was doing so well. We could not be happier with our experience with Dr. Veeragandham. Most importantly, you can go into surgery with the confidence knowing you are in the hands of one of the very best!

Most Excellent!
Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Veeragandham. He performed an urgent (but not emergency) surgery on one of my large carotid arteries (feeds blood to the brain) which was 80% blocked. He was referred to me by my long time and terrific cardiologist, who called him right from his office while I was there. At my pre-op (first) visit Dr. V showed me on a high-def large screen monitor the images from the CT scan of the artery which even I could see with my non-medical eyes was severely blocked by a 'plug' of calcified plaque. I knew how serious my condition was, and his cheerful and friendly demeanor and conversation during this first visit was reassuring, even uplifting. His office staff couldn't have been nicer or more efficient, too. Several of the staff at the hospital for the surgery (John Muir Concord) also said positive things things about Dr. V. If I could give him 10 stars I would. Thank you, Dr. V, for all you have done for me.

Exceptional Doctor with an Exceptional Team
Dr.Veeragandham performed the CABG procedure on my husband who is 73 years old. In the pre-operative stage, Dr.Veeragandham listened to us carefully and thoroughly performed all the necessary tests to make sure that the outcome was successful. During the surgery and in the post-operative phases, along with his very efficient, caring, and supportive staff, we felt comfortable and reassured that we are in good hands. This made the recovery much more easier and positive.Anecdotally, in the pre-operative phase, everyone in the hospital would say something like 'I would like to say good-luck with the surgery, but with Dr.VVeeragandham I know that everything is going to be alright.' I am happy to say that we have now joined this bandwagon as card carrying members.Thank you Dr. Veeragandham and thank you to one and all of the members of Dr.V's team.

Strategic Miracle Maker
Dr. Veeragandham led an unexpected heart bypass and valve redo surgery for my mother. When we initially met him we were a bit nervous as we had hoped for her to have the least invasive approach, but testing revealed otherwise. Dr. V reviewed these results in detail with us and made sure we understood everything involved in what was needed to restore my mother's heart and prevent future heart failure. He was calm, strategic, and had a caring bedside manner. Leading up to, during, and after the surgery Dr. V and the entire team including Dr. Ryan Brown went above and beyond to ensure the highest level of care and recovery. I felt confident with them as my mother's cardiac team and rest assured knowing they were paying attention to detail. I truly believe the care received led to the speedy and complete recovery my mother had within weeks of her 8-hour surgery.

Highly Recommend Dr Ramish Veeragandam
Dr Ramish Veeragandam is a wonderful surgeon. Patients often sing his praises as being smart, insightful, caring, knows what he is doing, experienced and very caring. All this is very true but what I know for sure is that he saved my precious husband’s life by performing a very difficult and complex surgery. Very few surgeons are able to do a repair on the heart or valve successful and usually revert to doing a full replacement instead. Dr. Veeragandam and his team successfully performed a repair. If you want to go to the best of the best for either yourself or for a loved one, use Dr Veeragandam. We are very grateful that he was able to add many more good years to my husband life.

Saved my dad
I celebrated Father's Day with my dad this year thanks to Dr. V and his team. My dad had a severe heart attack a few months ago requiring a week plus in the ICU and emergency quintuple bypass surgery. None of us knew he had coronary artery disease until the heart attack, and as his daughter, it was the scariest time in my life. Dr. V treated us like family, exuding warmth while handling his craft with precision. He waited until the safest time to operate, and my dad has made a full recovery since. I am indebted to Dr. V and his team and in awe of his surgical skill. He's my hero!

Dr. Veeragandham is the most talented, conscientious, and caring doctor I have ever met. From the initial consultation to the successful recovery I felt that I could not have been in better hands. I initially had an angiogram, followed by open heart surgery for valve replacement and multiple by-pass. This was probably the scariest event in my life but thanks to Dr. V. and team I knew I was getting the best care possible. His attention to detail and thoroughness gave me the confidence and peace of mind to concentrate on the recovery process and a whole new lease of life. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone finding themselves in need of cardiac surgery. Many thanks and my deepest respect. M. McDonough - April 26th, 2023

My bad luck in having a massive heart attack at 56 yrs. of age, undiagnosed for 3 days, was matched by good luck in having Dr. Veeragandham as my surgeon. I had an angiogram for immediate support followed by an open heart surgery (CABG). The surgery was complicated by the presence of a clot and my ending up needing 5 bypasses. In this harrowing time for me and my family, Dr. V was a source of great comfort and confidence. In my opinion, a great doctor is not just skilled at his work but also dedicated enough to approach each patient as though it’s his first. Dr. V was there before the surgery explaining my case & patiently answering all our questions; immediately after the surgery offering reassurance to my waiting, very anxious family; and post-surgery following up every day on every minor detail of my recovery in the hospital. I am now 6 weeks post-surgery with a recovery that has been much better than expected. Thank you, Dr. Veeragandham. My family and I are eternally grateful.

Flawlessly REPAIRED my Bicuspid Aortic Valve
Dr. Veeragandham came very highly recommended. In one visit, I could see for myself why. At my annual physical, an ECG, and a few more tests showed significant LV enlargement and dysfunction with an EF of 35 to 40%, a thickening of the aortic valve with severe eccentric Aortic Regurgitation. and mildly dilated ascending aorta. A lot of technical talk that means though I had no symptoms, I soon would develop severe ones that would only get worse. It was clear I needed to fix this bicuspid valve quickly with a plan to repair if possible and replace if not. Fortunately, Dr. Veeragandham and his team at John Muir Health-Concord, CA Medical Center Cardiology & Heart Surgery/East Bay Cardiovascular and Thoracic Associates team deftly repaired the valve and provided amazing care during the surgery and throughout my recovery. I was ready for home in 4 days and at 6 weeks, have been released from all restrictions. Perhaps I am extra fortunate, but just read through the other reviews.

New Life
I’ve been given such an incredible gift having Dr. Veeragandam as my surgeon. He was remarkable from the moment we met. The fear and terror I had about my valve replacement surgery was beyond consolable or easy at all to deal with. With one visit he knew what to do to handle an individual like me with my anxieties as well as how to proceed to insure he would absolutely bring me back to maximum health. His experience in saving my life and allowing me peace of mind and many more years is something I can never repay nor express here in mere words. Everything about him from his smiling happy calm and cheery manner lets you know you are in the best hands and everything is going to be alright. May God Bless him.
