Not Going Back
Front office Receptionist is consistently rude by phone or in-person. They keep no waitlist for patients who need a sooner appt if one comes available. Suspiciously hi-focus on tests and cpap. When having repeat lung symptoms after a hospital stay, was told there was nothing they could do as 'out-patient', and go to ER if symptoms get worse. Seriously, they are the specialist and could do nothing to identify the cause of my symptoms and prevention? No longer trust.

dr chakilam and office staff
Dr. Chakilam and the np are great providers & always listen to all my concerns & answer all the questions i may have. All of these reviews about the office staff or about scheduling tend to forget that Dr Chakilam is a specialist office & not some walk-in clinic. i would assume that everyone is a stat patient due to them needing to see a lung specialist so when the suggestion to go to the Er is given then that means you are more ill than being able to come into the clinic. I have been in the waiting room & have heard stories of patients also waiting for their appts, some have critical news & some are there for a simple cough that a pcp can handle. Majority of these complaints & reviews about the staff being rude are from grown adults whom are indeed very rude themselves & act like spoiled brats when they do not get their way. i have also witnessed first hand the way these adult patients treat the office staff. My interactions with the office staff have always been pleasant and helpful.

Never seen Dr - Staff Rude
I've been going here for over 3 years. The front office staff is really rude on the phone and nice when you are leaving; check in is usually uneventful, but they are never friendly. The NP's all seem to be nice & intelligent. I've NEVER seen the doctor. The facility is decent, clean, sparse. If I had to deal with them more than twice a year, I'd find another doctor because on a regular basis, you deal mainly with the staff. If I was grading only the front office .. they'd get a negative star.

Frustrated Patient – Nov 22, 2024

Beware! This office is a scheduling disaster.
This office failed twice to properly schedule breathing test before follow-up visit then claimed to have texted an appointment later (to my phone that cannot take text) and claimed I had cancelled the appointment (not true) and then failed to respond the day before to my phone message asking to verify purpose, place and time of appointment to insure it was to perform the breathing test. I showed up but was told that because there had been no breathing test a followup could not be done and I would have to reschedule everything for some months later. I got a similar runaround two years ago so took extra caution to avoid it this time. Better luck next time--and that will almost certainly be with some other pulmonary office whose staff knows how to handle appointments properly and communicates more precisely and promptly with patients.

Dr. Chakilam is a great doctor with a lot of patience and attention to my health. Yes, at times I’ve had to wait for over an hour to see him, but it’s no different when waiting to see my OBGYN or my Primary Care doctor.

WE almost got to see the Dr. after one hour and twenty minutes in the waiting room and watching a couple that came in twenty minutes or so after us go up and talk to the receptionist for four or five minutes, then get bumped up ahead of us was the straw that broke the camels back

Dr. Chakilam is very nice and seems to know what he is doing. I feel completely secure in his knowledge and expertise. His staff is another story completely. They are rude and are not very compassionate. Recently I called in with concerns about my condition. Was told wait until the next day for my scheduled appointment or go to the ER. The staff was not concerned about me as a patient. Very frustrating. When I did arrive for my scheduled appointment, the staff did not have blood work result ready for the dr. Poor way to run a practice.

I was very disappointed with Dr Chakilam and his office staff. I would not recommend him. This Dr did not listen to me or address my concerns. He is more concerned about getting his patients to do a sleep study. His receptionist overcharged me on my first visit. His staff is rude and if you call them with a question or concern they will not call you back. I called them 4 days in a row to request an Xray with no call back, finally the receptionist told me the DR said to go to the ER. Wow.

Disappointed in Kingsville, TX – Sep 24, 2016
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Chakilam?
If you find yourself in need of a Pulmonologist, I highly recommend Dr. Chakilum. He is an overall wonderful doctor. Patient, thorough, compassionate, and best of all, explains everything to you. You do not leave his office with lingering questions. Wait time can be lengthy but that is to be expected with any type of specialist office. I am very happy with his care.
