Dr. Ram Mudiyam, MD

We waited over an hour to see him and got 9 minutes with him. this That’s even with us getting there 15 min before the appointment. He knows his stuff and is methodical, but has poor bedside manner. Personal interactions could be improved- especially in trying to explain the condition. Visual would help I read of just using technical terms. And, he didn’t physically exam the patient. He just read off the screen. If all you want is someone who is good at the surgery and not with all other aspects of patient care- go see him.

Don’t believe the poor reviews. I have been very impressed with Dr. Mudiyam! I am dealing with severe spine and nerve pain and he took the time to explain the problems thoroughly and offer a less invasive solution. The poor reviews are quite obviously from the same person on multiple websites. Ignore them.

Over 35 years of back problems and visited numerous surgeons. Probably on 4 different occasions i was going to commit to operation but never had a doctor i felt a warm and fuzzy with until I met Dr. Mudiyam. Hands down the most sincere, genuine Dr. ever. My L5 S1 fusion surgery was exactly 4 weeks ago. I am dealing with the normal recovery process but Dr. Mudiyam and his staff are absolutely terrific. I recommend you meet him if you are considering surgery and see for yourself. Best of luck... I am 56 yr. old male....

Dr. Mudiyam performed 2 SI Joint fusions. Both fusions were successful. The joint nerve pain is gone. Working on physical therapy to get my muscles back in shape.

Dr Mudiyam is an amazing orthopedic surgeon. I would recommend him and Newport Orthopedic to everyone. He replaced my hip and my pain was gone in just a few days, this was not my first replacement but by far the best.

I have had both back and neck surgery and I am completly pain free. Dr. Mudiyam explains things in a way that I can understand. I have a lot of confidence in his work.

Not only is Dr Mudiyam an outstanding surgeon but gives excellent Orthopedic doctor's care on a daily basis. He visited daily while I was in the hospital and has remained in contact with me daily at home.

Dr Dennis recommended me to Dr Mudiyam i was very impressed on my very first visit. He explained what he was going to do. We looked examples of the back showing what was going to happen. We went over the MRI and all X-rays I agreed right away to have the surgery. When at one office visit I told him about numb fingers and he had X-ray of my neck and we found that C7 was also problem. I have already recommended him to people I know with back pain.

Excellent care, thorough, team has great bedside manner and works with you great. I went for a workers comp injury and the entire office treated me just like a regular patient, that's rare in WC care.

Never! He messed me up for life and left with no forwarding address, had to hunt him down, but a waste of time! I am now going to a great doctor, hoping he can fix his mess, but maybe can not be fixed! I cry all the time and wish I never saw his face!!!

I had back surgery. It was a 4-5 fusion that never fused. He left me with a club foot and I’ve been walking with a cane ever since. went to Cedar Siani, USC, UCLA and UCI medical centers and all the doctors said the same thing Dr. Mudiyam didn’t put in any bone graph so it couldn’t fuse. He caused more nerve damage than I ever could of imagined. My heels were bright red when I woke up from his surgery and when I asked him why he said nerves.I have to wear heel booties and use a cane!

My daughter Jessica had surgery in 2011 with Dr. Mudiyam. He is an extremely skilled surgeon who NEVER cuts corners and ALWAYS considers the best interests of his patients. Our experience with him was phenomenal. He cared well for Jessica's health concerns and straightened her scoliosis much better then we had anticipated. At 16 Jessica had a 75 degree curve in her thoracic spine and her 12 hour surgery outcome was truly miraculous.
