Dr. Kent woke me up after surgery, beaming with joy. 'Take a deep breath,' he said. Now a few days later, I am still soaking the joy of oxygen in this new ability to fill my lungs to their full capacity. Dr. Kent explained that he had removed the goiter that the right side of my thyroid had become, which was almost the size of his fist. It had been blocking the airway in my neck, therefore preventing me from taking a full breath. I hadn't realized what I was missing out on until now... told the nurse I can't wait to see how many more strokes I can get in between breaths when I swim my laps. As an added bonus, I now have a better sense of smell. Swallowing my vitamin pill each morning had been uncomfortable to say the least, but now it just goes right down the hatch. It is very clear that Dr. Kent is quite wise, skilled with the scalpel, straight forward to the point and professional. It is also very clear that he genuinely cares for his patients. I am so grateful!

I went to Dr. Kent to get a second opinion regarding a breast biopsy that was noncancerous and the follow-up recommendation for surgery regardless. When I expressed my concern of having a surgery that may not be needed, Dr. Kent became irritated, escalated his tone and pretty much scolded me for being 'skeptical' and said that it was an 'insult to him and the entire community of physicians in the Birmingham area that I would not trust' what one physician recommended. He tried to embarrass me by saying that other women just get the surgery done right away and how dare I even question it. He stated that 'he and every other physician are PLENTY busy everyday and have no need to do unneccessary surgeries.' Great--stay busy without my business!! I will not be back and do not recommend this physician to anyone. Especially to anyone looking for a second opinion. This doc has a major chip on his shoulder!

I recently had a partial thyroidectomy. Dr. Kent was very thorough in explaining my options during my first visit. I decided to proceed with surgery. The surgical procedure went very smoothly. He was very pleasant and professional at my follow up visit. I am glad I chose him.

Excellent experience with this surgeon. I had a parathyroidectomy at Vestavia Surgery Center 10 days ago, and could not be more pleased. Easy recovery, and 10 days later, only a minimal scar.

Dr. Kent did my surgery for thyroid cancer 6 years ago. Still in remission and my scar looks so good, I’m trying to figure out how to have him do a tummy tuck because I’ve had plenty of other surgeries, and NO other surgeon has left me with an undetectable scar.

Through a car accident I received two puncture wounds, one very deep! The Hospital stitched me up, but it soon came right back open. I went from doctor to doctor, infection after infection, until a nurse in an Urgent Care center referred me to Dr. Raleigh Kent at the Wound Care Center. From the first day he made a difference, knowing just how to clean it out and dress it. It was a long healing process, but steady progress. A puncture wound is not like other cuts or wounds and does not heal the same. Doctors and Hospital staff are just not trained to take care of it. It requires a wound care specialist, and Dr. Kent at Brookwood is the BEST!

My mother is 97. Due to her age, her skin has become very thin. Consequently, whenever she falls or scrapes furniture, etc. she opens quite a large wound. Any healing is difficult to accomplish. Dr. Kent and his staff have come to moms rescue on two separate occasions since Sept. 2021. They have Conducted wound care for her with complete professionalism and efficiency. They each work hard and are very knowledgeable in regard to wound care. We would not hesitate to call on Dr. Kent in the future where needed. Mike-(Son)

Best experience with Dr Kent and the entire staff at Brookwood Wound Center Outstanding! My husband went last week with excessively swollen legs and fluid oozing out of an open wound about 4/5 inches long. He received treatment and I was told how to continue it. We returned this week and his legs are SO Much better- the wound has healed and swelling greatly reduced. I have instructions to continue with until most swelling is gone and info on compression socks that he will need to wear ongoing. Everyone was so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Dr Kent and his nurse took time with my husband and myself to explain causes and treatment. We could not have asked for better experience. I would highly recommend DR Kent and the Brookwood Wound Center to anyone.

Following surgery, I posted a positive review concerning Dr. Kent. Unfortunately, I will have to give my experience with his staff a terrible rating. Due to their error I was billed over $2000. 2 members of Dr. Kent’s office staff admitted they failed to inform me that the appropriate referral had not been received, resulting in my insurance not paying. It only makes sense that if I had known his office had not received the requested referral, I would’ve change the appointment until the referral was received. Dr. Kent’s office manager has refused my phone calls and subsequently placed my account in collections.

i was sent to Dr. Kent by my dermatologist after an operation on my leg for cancer. The open wound was not healing. With in one week after my first visit to Dr. Kent the wound had made an amazing improvement. Two months later it was completely healed. I found Dr. Kent to be an excellent surgeon who explains what needs to be done and and if you follow his instructions you will be very satisfied with the results as I was. I also must add that his staff will make you want to come back just to see them. They are the most pleasant people to be around and make you feel at ease the moment you walk through the door. I highly recommend them all.

I was referred to Dr Kent for a nasty wound on my toe. I could not have asked for better care . I had seen several doctors and was making very slow progress under their care but after ONE visit with Dr Kent , I could already tell a huge difference. He was always very pleasant, personable , and professional. The staff including his medical records attendant, admitting nurse, receptionist , and individual nurses were amazing- probably the most efficient and nicest staff I have ever dealt with. After one visit we knew we were in the right place. I would highly recommend Dr. Kent III.

Dr. Kent and his staff did an excellent job giving me the care I needed to heal a nasty wound I received from from an accident in my yard. I recommend this team without reservation.

My family had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Kent just yesterday to perform a biopsy on my mother. His bedside manner truly brought our family a peace that I know was a Godsend! In the consultation he not only was relatable, but also honest in a gentle manner. He was very honest to say that there was clearly a need for a biopsy, but at the end of it all, what was needing to be removed has a 20% chance of it being anything, so until it’s something, it’s nothing. I’m very grateful to Dr Kent and his wonderful staff for helping our family keep and hold to peace during an unknown time.

He saved my life, plain and simple. Went to Brookwood ER in intense pain, difficulty breathing and I had lost consciousness. He quickly diagnosed a perforated colon and performed surgery. It was touch and go for days. He's pretty plain spoken, but I am too so we got along well. I got great care from him as well as hospital personnel. No complaints.

While he does not "sugar-coat" your situation, he is empathetic. He takes the time to answer all your questions. His staff members are cheerful, knowledgeable, and responsive. I was referred to Dr. Kent for a breast biopsy. He came with a high recommendation from the radiologist and two surgical nurses. I was not disappointed. He was open, honest and up front which was refreshing. It was non cancerous. I see him once a year for my exam with the same assurance that I am getting the best medical care. Dr. Kent is a true professional.
