Showed care and concern
I was hesitant due to negative reviews but Dr. Patel really listened to me and offered good, sound advice. I didn’t feel rushed or uncared for.

The feeling of a rushed Dr. set the tone for the CT Scan follow up. Not much opportunity for Q&A. No discussion about expectations of healing, merely stated that a shot of cortisone will be scheduled. Either he is under tremendous pressure to get through an unreasonable amount of patients, or he does not have the patience or people skills to work well with people. Perhaps it will get better with successive appointments?

Compared to my other experiences with Uof R orthopedics Dr. Patel is severely lacking in communication skills. Im used to thorough explanations with diagrams....you wont get that with this guy, plus he has zero "bedside manner". The other staff has been very good. Rochelle is great, i wish i could just bypass him entirely and have her perform the proceedure.

Dr. Patel does not waste time! He tells you what he is going to do and explains it. I had several procedures and he always how things were going. He also emphasized that I should do some PT. I recommend Dr. Patel and his assistant Rochelle.

The visit on November 3 for a follow up MRI for my back was very unpleasant. The resident came in looked at the images , but did not say anything to me . Dr. Patel walks in a hurry looks at the MRI and gives me this thing that I need a shot not explaining to me what it is all about. I left out of there call another Dr. at RGH and was told all about the shot, and my problem. I will be letting that second Dr. deal with my back issue will not go back to Dr.Patel

The whole experience at U of R Orthopedics was very impersonal, from check-in to check-out. Dr. Patel was not very friendly and did a poor job of explaining my condition, answering questions and treatment he was recommending. Compassion is definitely not one of his skills.

My comments pertain to the physicians communication skills and patient interaction. As a patient, I felt the dialog was very one-sided. I was being spoken to rather than a back and forth dialog about my questions/concerns. At one point I asked a followup and was reminded by the physician that he had covered this item during his "lecture" (mine term not his) to me about the condition I was being seen for.

Went in to the LacDeville office for cortisone injections (two total). I waited an extremely long time to get in to the actual procedure. After getting in, the doctor barely spoke two words to me. He was in fact, dictating notes for another case on a computer behind the procedure table. The nurses barely spoke either and ripped my pants dow I was in tears and could not catch my breath from the procedure and the nurse was pulling my arm to get me off the table to get the next patient in the room.

Check-in process was unreasonable, main reason for not wanting to recommend this provider/office plus the short visit. Receptionist did not move first person in line along making all subsequent patients waiting to check-in late for their appointments. Total wait time from check-in to visit was 1 hour 45 minutes and no one bothered to come out and give an estimate or cause for the delay or apologize. Would personally never go back as a result.
