Grateful for her expertise.
Dr. Potru is thorough and competant. People need to realize that when it comes to GI issues, there is no magic bullet. My GI problem wasn't solved with one visit, but over several visits including a colonoscopy, I am getting the treatment I need and my system is back to normal.Dr. Potru required a colonoscopy and I fought it for 6 months. When she did the procedure to see what was going on, she found a 8mm polyp that was missed from regularly scheduled colonoscopy with another doctor. I'm gratefull for that she pushed for the procedure.

Exasperated if first diagnosis doesn't fit
Decided on my diagnosis before speaking to me. 80% of my symptoms contradicted her opinion, as did the timing of their onset. She repeatedly prescribed bandaid pills that didn't help but would only see me every three months to try another, all the while I'm miserable and missing tons of work. After her first idea or two didn't work she pretty much threw her hands up and exasperatedly asked me what I wanted to do next (I'm not a GI). I had to ask for an endoscopy, which came back normal. That apparently meant my symptoms were make believe. I wound up asking my PC about it, she found a much more likely diagnosis after actually listening to me, which was backed up by tests order by my PC instead of this "specialist." Doesn't listen, doesn't ask questions, "uh idk try this. Now go home and suffer for a few months. Maybe I'll try something different next time, if I feel like it."

Dr. Potru caught a polyp another MD missed
Recently had an EGD & colonoscopy with Dr. Potru. She found a rectal pre-cancerous polyp that another doctor missed (a recent anoscopy & flex sig, which was done about 8 months ago). Also I had no gas pain this time (whereas after a previous colonoscopy I had pretty significant gas pain afterwards). I’m glad I saw her for a second opinion. Needless to say, I’m very appreciative of her care and attention to detail! Thank you, Dr. Potru!

She is terrific
Dr. Potru is amazing….and in-demand. While the office and staff can be difficult to deal with, she is a gem. I started to have some very acute symptoms that were confounding several specialists. She was doggedly on my case to find the answers…ordering all the tests to help get to the bottom of it. She is kind, extremely competent and well-respected by other physicians I see.

A very pleased patient – Mar 04, 2022

Dr. Potru was very patient with me in listening to, and properly addressing, my concerns. Because of her, I am now able to swallow without pain! She is amazing! I've been searching for over a year, working with other providers and maneuvering through the referral process from the military to receive care from a specialist. I have suffered with continual pain in my throat and chest, and was not able to swallow food or liquid without it getting 'stuck' in my esophagus each and every time. The pain was excruciating. I called Dr. Potru's office and she met with me immediately. We discussed in detail the suggested course of action, and in less than a couple weeks I was swallowing food and liquids without distress or pain. On the day of my procedure, she met with me and calmed any fears I may have had. She and her team worked well together, and she talked me through every step. I was so impressed with her mannerisms and expertise, and will not hesitate to go back to her.

Dr. Potru is knowledgeable, understanding, and, may I add, has a delightful sense of humor. She was able to fit me in for an appointment the same day, quickly diagnosed my problem, and alleviated my anxieties. Ask about her adorable daughters. Her suggested course of treatment fixed things up right away. I highly recommend Dr. Potru and this practice.

I am currently a patient of Dr. Potru and would highly recommend her to someone seeking a gastroenterologist in the northern Virginia vicinity. She provides quality customer service and excellent feedback. I just had a colonoscopy with her today and everything went great!

If you believe in assembly line health care with little/no concern for the patient, Dr. Potru is the gastroenterologist for you. She performed a colonoscopy and endoscopy and I have been in pain since. Her follow-up diagnosis - it isn't anything she can treat and to come back in 3 months. She has one diagnosis - GERD, and if your issues aren't GERD you are outside of her assembly line expertise.

Extremely rude and unprofessional office staff. Dr. Potru told me I *had* to get an endoscopy and colonoscopy after only a 10 min initial consultation. Then as I was waking up from anesthesia from these procedures, she told me to just take a probiotic and that was it. No follow up appointment, nothing. Just sent me a bill. Pathetic practice aimed at prescribing expensive, unnecessary procedures.

My colonoscopy procedure by Dr. Potru on May 10th was HORRIBLE. I never had any problem in eating and using bathroom before the procedure, but from May 11th I have suffered crazy pain every time after using bathroom. I am like disable for 6 hours every time after using bathroom. I went to another Colon&Rectal Surgert doctor for examination, I was told I got a FISSURE. It is a split at rectum area. Which causes huge pain as hell. I called Dr Potru, she could not help.

Please NEVER go to that doctor! After listening to me explaining my 6 month bad symptoms and background of digestive issues, she said "why are you here?" Today, 5/12 they called me to say that my January (4 month ago) blood test is normal, that nothing is wrong with me. Well, since that January, I got diagnosed by different docs with gluten, milk, egg, etc. intolerances and Barrett esophagus and cholecystitis, and my symptoms got much better since I got on the diet. DO NOT GO to this doctor!
