Unfocused and distracted.
Dr. Zen is not inquisitive and seems unfocused. Of the doctors I've seen at NYOH, he is the least attentive to patient issues and concerns.

Dr. Zen communicated the nature of the the possible condition, a testing plan and a plan of action should any action be required. Dr. Zen's explanation of the science of the potential condition, testing and a possible treatment was factual and understandable. He answered several questions with explanations for his responses. He also explained the reasons for his physical examination and the significance or lack of significance of his observations from the examination. Dr. Zen was attentive and his plan was explained. My impression was that Dr. Zen was thorough, knowledgeable. not an alarmist, a good communicator and listener.

The office staff is totally unprofessional. Does not return calls. it takes an act of god to make an appointment even if you are a returning patient. Not a DR I would want to see again!!!I I was unable to make a follow up appointment due to the poor staff & horrible communications.

Very cold and impersonal. Did not show any interest in me or my condition. Made me feel like I was wasting his time as he brusquely ushered me out of his office after a very brief visit during which he barely discussed my diagnosis or treatment plan. Very disappointed.

Dr. Zen was very easygoing and took time to explain any and all possibilities relating to my symptoms and condition. He was very aggressive in arranging for further examinations and treatment. I was very comfortable with him and would recommend him to anyone in my own family.

Still in early stages of setting up chemo treatments. A colon surgeon didn’t want to operate yet and Dr Zen played the seriousness of my lung and liver cancer. My surgery was scheduled and then changed to chemo first. Something tells me the surgeon and Dr Zen had an argument that changed my treatment schedule. It’s quite clear they are under staffed, when I call they ask me to hold and then have to wait for quite some time. I’m looking into other options but competition isn’t readily available.

Very impersonal. I didn't see him interest or care about patient, me or the condition. Didn't explain well enough. He has such a poor communication skill. I would not go back to see him. It was a totally waste of time and money. I would not recommend him to anyone else.

Cold and impersonal, lacking in attention to patient needs, complete absence of compassion, egotistical, and unwilling to listen to recommendations of thoracic experts at Dana Farber. Near the end, just before we had to change doctors, he caused my husband to wait (crying because pain was not managed) for over an hour beyond appointment time, then had the audacity to pretend he did not know he was waiting although we heard the nurses telling him. But it was the day before his vacation.

He was very cold towards my father and my family. My father had cancer and this man came in (when our family was all gathered together in the hospital) and told us it can't be helped you are going to die. That was the first thing he said; not treatment, or detailed explanation just, you have 6 months at most. That may seem normal, but I don't care how long a day it has been for you. Telling a patient and their family upon first meeting that he will die without emotion is awful.
