Dr. Purvis Harper, MD

I seen this man as a child and he was very rude and unprofessional. I have heard horror stories from many other people. His biggest offense is his love for calling people overweight. Funny thing is he and his whole family are overweight. Guy is a joke.

I still carry scars from Dr. Harper from when I was a child. My sister and I both saw him when we were young. I was always a little overweight, unlike my younger sister. He looked me dead in the eye once during a routine check up and let me know I would NEVER be as thin as my sister, and that I would always be fat. This grotesquely overweight man had the audacity to call a young girl fat to her face. I, even at the tender age of 11, somehow knew this was appalling behavior for a pediatrician. I begged my mom not to ever send me back. Later in life I struggled with an eating disorder. Those words echo in my mind to this day. That said, his nurses were always very kind and gave shots with minimal discomfort. And it was a fairly easy process to get an appointment, although I would never recommend him.

We LOVE Dr Harper...my kids LOVE him...I drive 45 minutes to see him because he is the BEST for my son with Autism and my ADHD daughter...Would not want another Pediatrician.....His nurse is great too.

Horrible bedside manner- talks down to patients and makes you feel like you are wasting his time. I’ve had the unfortunate luck of seeing him once in the office and once as the after hours dr call back. Both times were awful and I was so shocked by his demeanor.

1st time seeing him and will not be returning. He was very dismissive of my concerns for my child. I was advised an over the counter medication for my 2 and 3 year old that is not FDA approved for children under 6.

Dr Harper does not help when I go to him with my sick child. He charges an arm and a leg for consultations but when I ask him questions he is extremely dismissive and not helpful. I will be looking for another doctor.
