Very condescending, wouldn't listen to my issues or past experiences with medications, DID NOT explain anything in detail as to why she recommended the procedures I needed. If this happens to you as well, definitely seek out a second opinion! I only wish that I had done it sooner and I wouldn't have gone thru the issues for the last 4 months that I have. Perhaps not everyone should be put in the 'same box' of protocol/care!

I have keratoconus and needed cataract surgery. Dr Mathews did a wonderful job in restoring my right eye to 20 40 and my worse eye (my left eye) so that I can read type. I couldn’t see well out of my left eye previously. I’ll wear contact lenses still but can play tennis and pickleball and all the things I enjoy!! She’s a miracle worker. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Mathews is the only ophthalmologist I have found that was able to effectively treat my severe dry eye condition. I could barely see when I first met with her. She was pleasant, thorough, and professional. She designed a treatment regimen that worked. I can now see clearly with a minimum of discomfort. As someone who has received medical care in the US pre "managed care" we expect specialists to be brief and to move on to the next patient quickly. Dr. Mathews does not take that approach. She is extremely accomplished, very personable, and most importantly gives you the sense that she truly cares. She listens intently to your questions and concerns and answers honestly.
