Dr. Pravinkumar Patel, MD

I had a virtual visit with Dr. Patel yesterday 5/31. Dr. Patel told me that he was "unwilling to treat me" and that I needed to go to Urgent Care, which I told him I couldn't afford (virtual visits are free). I was trying to ask him what else could I do since he wouldn't treat me and he said, "I'm not going to talk to you until you calm down and listen to me. I'm a doctor and I know more than you." I was calm 100%, I was not rude or yelling. I asked for his NPI number because I wanted to put in a complaint. He said, "I don't have an NPI number." If you are a licensed practicing doctor in the US, you are legally required to have an NPI. He said, "Well I only said I didn't have one because I don't have my NPI handy and I don't know it. I have reported him to my insurance, to the TeleHealth system, Missouri Department of Insurance, and the Missouri Medical Board. This is not how you treat patients who come to you for help! Completely unacceptable!!

Met him while inpatient at night. Great bedside manners. He explained things to me n even heard me out. He provided me with the products requested for me to have great comfort while inpatient regarding my bedridden condition. I appreciated his empathy n time while staying professional.

Dr. Patel of BJC Medical Group saw me for a total of 3-5 minutes at 4 a.m. during an overnight hospital stay and billed me for an hour and a half. I requested additional documentation, thinking there was a review or consultation with another doctor, etc., but there was none to provide. He was padding the bill and I disputed the charge. A $134 charge was sent to collection and my nearly perfect credit score has now dropped 112 points. I hope the score of Dr. Patel, BJC Medical Group and Missouri Baptist Medical Center now drops for billing for services not rendered. These days, the medical profession rarely provides diagnoses, much less treatments that work or a cure, but we should not have to pay for services we did not receive.
