Dr. Zimmermann practices evidence-based medicine and knows what he is doing. I have been in the situation that other reviews hint at where my previous care was not great, with inappropriate prescriptions etc. and he identified right away what was wrong and offered a better path forward. Over the years I have even seen official medical recommendations for my condition change, and he has been on the correct side of them every time. I have great confidence in Dr. Zimmermann but his office employs many nurse practitioners and physician assistants with more appointment times. My strategy is to wait a week or so longer to see the doctor himself and avoid the midlevel providers, especially NPs. One of his PAs was great but left for a different department. UW Health also offers an online video visit where you can select a physician provider and they have been great for low-acuity quick turnaround things, like identifying a shingles flareup and prescribing antivirals.

Dr. Zimmermann, while well-intentioned, does not provide effective, thoughtful care due to his lack of listening and research into a patient's history. He is quick to apply a healthcare management routine without asking questions or taking time to understand a patient's needs, goals and past. He seems incredibly academic in his approach, applying blanket healthcare principles to what can be seen at the surface. I have a prescription for Dr . Zimmermann: more compassion, more listening and maybe watch "Patch Adams" a couple times to remember the capacity a physician has to make a difference. In watching, I hope he also remembers the profound ways in which physicians can negatively impact patients, from misdiagnosing to preventing them from seeking treatment when they need it. Treat people, not just their conditions.

My initial appointment with Philip N. Zimmermann was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a doctor. The meeting was contentious; I found his disposition to be unprofessional and his knowledge of my health records to be lacking. He had no idea of why I was on my current maintenance regiment and all he wanted to do was change almost everything in our 20–25 minute appointment without working with me. He even told me that if I didn't like it, I was free to find another doctor. Guess What I did?

Intelligent, insightful, and incredibly responsive. I consider him a ally as I go through middle age. He saved me from one unnecessary procedure. He called me on 30 minutes notice between his appointments. He's the Man, and I'm hugely grateful!

I visited Dr. Zimmermann for my initial primary physician appointment. He was very informative and treated me well. Allowed me to be an active member of the appointment. I will gladly visit him again.
