The only negative is that the murmur could still be heard and there wasnt notes in my chart about whether that was the case right after surgery or not. This caused a lot of stress.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve Repair
Dr. Pavlina was able to repair my bicuspid aortic valve. This gave me the ability to stay off of coumadin and continue my life normally after surgery recovery. The initial visit he made sure that all of my questions were answered and he took the time to listen and explain. Once it was time for me to make the decision on repair or replacement (mechanical / bovine) he made sure I had all of the information and then left me to make my own decision, which I appreciated. In the hospital all of the nurses raved about how good Dr. Pavlina is and that if they had something happen to them he would be their top choice. The care at Kettering Medical Center was overall very good compared to my experiences at other hospitals for the preliminary testing before I knew that I had surgery.

Dr. Pavlina replaced a valve in my heart about 10 / 12 years ago. Everything is still working perfectly. I and others call him St. Peter.

Dr. Pavlina did my heart surgery in May of 2017 for an aortic valve replacement; an ascending aortic aneurysm replacement; and a Hemiaortic arch replacement. He did an excellent job. I had lots of complications (none caused by him). He was very caring and encouraging and visited me e very single day I was in the hospital even after he released me as a patient. His gentle and caring demeanor just exemplifies his excellence as a surgeon. He's brilliant and talented and I really believe he saved my life.

He did my cardiac bypass. I am an RN. The only complaint I have is my scar, and that is fading! He takes time to answer questions. 1 year after surgery I had questions about incisional pain the cardiologist could not answer. I had changed insurances, they said they would not pay. I called his office and offered to private pay. They scheduled me within days to see him and took care of the insurance company. He sat down and talked to me, answered my questions.

Many years ago, my sister, Nicki Wright was in dire need of open heart surgery to repair or replace a heart valve. Her previous 2 open heart surgeries by another doctor were a disaster and no one wanted to try to go back in. Dr. Pavlina did. He was the only one. He saved her life when we were told to wait for her to die, he gave her back to us. I will forever be eternally grateful for this man and his renowned expertise and skill. Words just cannot describe my feelings about him. God bless you!
