friendly doc, terrible run office and experience
friendly doctor once you get to him. horrible office experience - very difficult to get someone to answer a call, and in office the wait was consistently 1-2hrs, and very rushed. Feels a bit like a business rushing ppl in and out to monetize and just get more procedures done

The best doctor!!
One of the best gastroenterologist in the world!! I had a terrible painful ulcer that I thought would destroy me. He immediately eliminated the pain, gave me the right medication, and followed up with me. I'm now in good shape and can eat what I want in moderation. Not to mention that he has a great personality and is very caring and nice.

Great Visit
I visited Dr. Distler for a colonoscopy and was nervous beforehand but he explained everything so well and reassured me I was in great care. The staff was friendly and he answered all my questions cheerfully. I have no complaints and would definitely recommend!

Office Visit
Dr.Distler was pleasant, knowledgable, listened carefully to my medical history, asked appropriate questions, and gave clear rationales for his recommended diagnostics. But, he Did Not Wash Or Sanitize his hands Before OR after touching my bare abdomen. The waiting area was cramped and did not permit social distancing. Neither He, Nor his Staff were masked. ALL the exam rooms were Dirty: layers of dust on windows, baseboards, and Old-looking exam tables (from 1960's?)flat mat on a dusty wooden support, with no means to elevate head. The patient bathroom was Dirty. And, the assistant explaining the prep for the procedure she scheduled DID NOT Know what NPO meant! I'm a retired RN, my career spanned from 1968-2012; I worked in private hospitals, and HHC, and have Never seen such filth in a Medical office/facility! And, I've never felt so Dirty leaving a Doctor's office!!!

I was made to wait more than 2 hours after my scheduled appointment for a colonoscopy after enduring the terrible preparation process. Heartless. Then, it took almost 3 weeks for me to extract the results of the test from his office. They kept refusing to tell me any results until I scheduled another appointment, withholding my personal medical data in an effort to book more revenue through appointment scheduling. My results were not sent to PCP and I'm still trying to get a copy of the test results for my new doctor.

DISHONEST Practice. Find another doctor instead!!!
I was referred to Dr. Distler because I needed an Endoscopy. That process was fine, but he is always scheming to get you to agree to a COLONOSCOPY like a used car salesman. THAT IS HIS ULTIMATE GOAL. To have you sign up for both procedures even if you don't need it. I believe he makes money off of you by doing that. EXPLOITATION. His office is run down. This is especially upsetting because the only people I saw in his office BOTH times I went were Black/Hispanic patients. The seats are falling apart, no air circulation, and the front desk staff always provide inaccurate info. Everytime they called me at home, they were calling me another patients name, wrong d.o.b, inaccurate confirmation of appointment dates/times etc. A MESS. Dr. Distler was NOT that helpful with info about my condition. My second visit felt rushed and he YET AGAIN according to his rehearsed script, was pushing for a COLONOSCOPY even though I said NO the first time. He is dishonest and ridiculous. NEVER AGAIN.

Amazing Doctor that I was lucky enough to get an appointment with. I dont mind waiting in the office or at the GI center. Friends have doctors that have them waiting over a month for a basic visit. Dr Distler never delays caring for a patient if they want to be seen

Great guy, very friendly, makes great conversation about fluff things. Definitely in the business of selling colonoscopies though, would not recommend as a physician. Went into the office for one complaint, ended up getting a colonoscopy, and initial complaint was never address- referred to a different doctor. He left out vital information with the intent of ensuring a colonoscopy was completed.

If you want a doctor who cares and puts your mind at ease, performs the procedure in an efficient manner, look no further. dr. Distler is your doctor. I was so nervous when I stumbled into his office that I could hardly sit down. He made me feel comfortable right away, explained the procedure and the entire experience of the procedure was pleasant. Not even a minor discomfort.Today is doctor's day! WhileI do not like doctor's visits, if I have to do it, I wish all doctors would be as Dr. Distler

Dr. Distler's office on the upper east side is gross. The staff is friendly as is the doctor! Unfortunately, he's in the business of selling colonoscopies. He didn't examine me BUT he chatted away and he scheduled a colonoscopy! Then a week before the procedure his office called to give me to a different doctor to do the colonoscopy. Suddenly he would NOT take my insurance for the procedure. Is he proffering procedures to his colleagues in exchange for other work? Not cool...

The BEST , fortunate to have had him for endoscopy and colonoscopy treatments. Stabalized stomach issues and found a flat dime shaped growth way in back of colon ( Japanese researchers believe these to be particularly vulnerable to cancer); subsequent visits have given me the all clear and peace of mind !
