Patient
I have been Dr. Crane's patient! He is always willing to listen and goes over your chart each visit. He is an outstanding pain management doctor. I would highly recommend him, as well as his staff, including the receptionist to anyone. They are amazing. Very quick go return calls, no matter what! Thank you Dr. Crane and everyone at CJW Pain Management!

He calmed my nerves...Literally
The staff was really friendly. They answered all my questions. Dr. Crane explained the procedure entirely before doing my injections. I had to have two injections on separate days. He was able to calm my nerves about the procedure and everything has been going great since I had them done. My second procedure was during the pandemic and all safety precautions were taken in the office.

I was referred by my Ortho VA Surgeon due to pain so severe that I am unable to function in relation to activities of daily living. I did not receive a return call for three business days, until I left a message (they do not answer the telephone - rather all calls are screened before they are returned) that I would have to advise my Ortho VA surgeon that they were unresponsive. I then received a return call and was advised of an exceedingly lengthy list of documents that I would need to obtain from my surgeon. Based on this experience I have determined that Dr. Crane is not patient-centric and I will need to take my pain and health elsewhere for treatment. Truly appalled.

For 5 years I had a spot on my back that itched all the time. Spoke to several doctors regarding my issue but none could help me..nor did they try. But Dr Crane ordered an MRI which showed I had blood tumors between T6 and T7...he then put cortisone into that area and had given me relief .

I have had many epidural injections and 3 ablutions. All have been a good experience with great results! I could live without the hospital fee for injections though. The staff is great!

On my only visit to Dr. Crane I was given trigger point injections for pain due to my scoliosis. Since his office is located in Johnston-Willis Hospital there is an additional charge for outpatient services at the hospital. If I was made aware I would be charged the outrageous amount of over $800.00 that was charged by the hospital in addition to the $62 charged for the shot, I would have never had him treat me! BE AWARE of the additional hospital facility charge before you let him touch you

I relocated from PA to VA in 2013. I have had an Intrathecal Drug Delivery Pump, since 1997. I see Dr. Crane every six months for the management of this pump. He has managed my pump better than any pain management doctor in the previous 16 years, in Pennsylvania. He is very knowledgeable in my device and any other physical problems I have. When I call his office with a question or concern, his nurse (Lisa) or secretary, always get back to me in a very reasonable time.

I would never recommend Dr. Crane to anyone. I saw him for a consultation, then he sent me for EMG testing (OOOOOUCH!). At the follow-up appointment - where he acted as though he had never seen me before and completely disregarded the results from the EMG. A complete and total waste of my time. I had brought a driver with me since a was told I was going to get an injection - so a total waste of their time too.

If you want a doctor with a God complex, he's your man! Unsympathetic, unhelpful, and not willing to work with me regarding treatment options I was comfortable with. He tried pushing me towards medication that I strongly felt wasn't right for me and instead of coming up with a different option, he told me to talk to a different doctor. In the meantime, I'm still in pain. Not a good quality in a pain management doctor!

1. Does NOT understand people with chronic pain. Says his wife has arthritis and she doesn't take any pain medication. Will NOT write a prescription for pain medication. Also, I was charged over $2000 for 2 cortisone shots. I contested it and they admitted they overcharged me by $1900.00.+ Dr. Crane is clue-less regarding chronic pain. I wouldn't let him prescribe RX for my dog.

Went to see Dr. Crane today for sever chronic pain in my knees and joints due to osteoarthritis. I have been in severe pain for years, and recently the pain has gotten so bad I can barely function. He asked me a few questions and gave me some foolish scenario about headaches and Tylenol. I asked him what pain medicine was for and he told me it was for severe pain not chronic pain! I don't understand how he can call himself a pain Dr. and then completely brush my pain aside like it did not exist!

I went to Dr Crane for a series of epidural injections. He was very attentive and made sure I understood what he was going to be doing, why, and what to expect. During the procedure he made sure I knew exactly what was happening every step of the way. His calm manner kept me at ease during the procedure and his bedside manner was very reassuring.

Seemed to be in a rush. Also, preferred to discuss his reasons for not prescribing opiates drugs for chronic pain. If prescribed an opiate, patient was required to sign a two page pain management agreement as if the patient could not initially be trusted to follow any drug instructions. Trust between physician and patient should work both ways. He also had an off hand manner when discussing my surgery results and follow up treatments and prognosis.

I saw Dr. Crane 3 times. 1) For an office visit to go over my symptoms, 2)A Facet Nerve injection (which turned out not to be the issue but matched my symptoms) and last for a disco gram. I was very impressed with his knowledge and enjoyed his beside manner. He explained in detail what he was to do..took into account that I had a very painful experience with another Ortho doctor and did an exceptional almost painless experience on all procedures. I would highly recommend Dr. Crane!
