Arrogant; hands shake
I had a visit for prostate cancer with Dr. Carroll. I was referred by my family doc. The Dr. Seemed to be distracted, didn't make eye contact, and was simply arrogant. Because I was already there, I elected to proceed with surgery. It was done robotically. I have been important, incontinent. Two years after surgery my cancer has come back and I will need radiation. Alarmingly, I have only seen the nurse practitioner since my initial consult. Dr. Carroll has never seen me after surgery. This has been most bothersome to em and my family.

I had prostate cancer and elected to have my prostate removed. I searched all over the US for the best doctor and facility and found Dr Carroll and UCSF to be among the best in the nation. The staff and Dr Carroll were outstanding to work with and my surgery was incredibly precise, minimizing the side effects such a surgery can produce. I highly recommend Dr. Carroll!

I was attended by Dr. Carroll and we decided to go on active surveillance as my risk at the time was low. Gleason 3+3 and a PSA of 4.0 so I ended up being on active surveillance for 3 1/2 years. When my Gleason score changed to 3+4 and my PSA to 5.6 I decided to seek treatment which was Cyberknife radiation this past year. Since then I've become Vegan after watching Forks Over Knives documentary on Netflix. I've also come across many a study that links dairy to prostate cancer. I love UCSF and Dr. Carroll was great. But, no one there said to me....Now that you're on active surveillance we suggest you follow a certain diet or that you eliminate dairy based on some studies, etc. Even though Dr. Carroll along with Dr. Dean Ornish conducted a study that showed promise when patients on active surveillance went on a plant based diet. That's my disappointment, no one there gave me any information that may have helped me remain on active surveillance by at the very least eliminating dairy.

After tests & biopsy revealed that my prostate gland was cancerous. I did an initial consultation with radiation & surgical docs & decided on my best bet with robotic surgery being preformed by Dr Peter Carroll @ UCSF (Radical Prostatectomy via Laparoscopic da Vinci Robot). Essentially pain free & up and walking later the same day. 3 1/2 years later I'm still cancer free. Could not recommend more highly!
