Dr. Birk treats me like an old friend. I feel comfortable with his diagnosis. He has explored and tested a lot to help me. Not what I wanted to hear, but the truth. I have every confidence in him. Just please get the Chesapeake office back. Office is very kind and tries hard to work with scheduling. The nurse has been very sympathetic with testing outside of office due to covid 19. I would recommend to Anyone.

Unfortunately my husband was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. When Dr. Birk gave us this news he continued to tell us there was nothing he could do. Of course my husband and I walked out of his office thinking we would never see him again. Two weeks later he shows up at Va. Beach General to see my husband. We asked that he not visit my husband since he already said there was nothing he could do. He also told my husband that he was more or less in charge and their was conflict with my husbands oncologist. He also did not want to increase my husbands oxygen supply telling me it would not help. I would not recommend Dr. Birk under any circumstances.

I was instructed to go to this Doc by Patent First as a follow up. Patent First did an x-ray and initially diagnosis pneumonia then revised the diagnosis to broncitis. They gave me a lung treatment, a cousre of antibiotics, and steroids. All this info was in doctor Birks posession at my first visit. His staff conducted a breathing test and the said at 56 I had the lungs of an 80 year old. With all of this information Dr Birk diagnosed me as having essentially post nasal drip, prescribed Flonase, then sent me on my way. Several days later I get a call from his office asking me to return because the doc finally read the notes from Patent First. I made a second visit and he decided to prescribe more steroids. If he would have done his job the first time I wouldn't have had to suffer as long as I did and my insurance company would only have had to pay for one visit not two. Now I'm getting bills from Birks office. I intend to file a complaint with the insurance company AND the state.
