After my wife, Karen, was told (by a different doctor) that her stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer was inoperable we were lead to Doctor Peter Allen by a sister of one of his patients. Dr. Allen was able to see Karen within a few days of her call to his office. Her appointment was at the Duke Cancer Center and after Dr. Allen introduced himself he stated that he had already seen Karen’s records and he believed her cancer is operable. That was on January 3, 2020. Less than two weeks later Karen was taking her first chemo treatment. On May 27, 2020 Dr. Allen performed Whipple Surgery and today (Jan 11, 2023 Karen is cancer free. Karen’s road was difficult and tough. She was courageous, but needed the expertise of a knowledgeable and skilled physician and that physician was Doctor Peter Allen. Doctor Allen was compassionate and kind yet direct and spoke with years of practice, confidence and knowledge. We thank God for directing us to Doctor Allen and we thank Doctor Allen for using the skill and knowledge that our Lord gave him to save Karen’s life. Today, Karen is back up to 115 pounds from her low of 84 pounds. She has life in her eyes and joy in her heart. Thank you Doctor Allen!

My mother was fortunate to have Dr. Allen operate on her when she was given the diagnosis of stage one pancreatic cancer in 2016. She felt reassured and comfortable with his care from the moment she met him and he laid a out a plan. Though my mother passed from this cancer in 2020, my family and I attribute Dr. Allen’s initial surgery to extending her life. Patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma do not usually live years after their diagnosis. My mom did thanks in part to the excellent care rendered by Dr. Allen. Do not hesitate to see him for your care, especially if you are facing a cancer diagnosis.

Dr. Allen has a knack of putting you at ease from your initial appointment. Dr. Allen was consulted for a second opinion. During the visit we were very happy to see he had completely familiarized himself with the forwarded records. He explained the condition and how he would approach it. He impressed us with his confidence and mannerism. We were leaning towards having the surgery at Memorial Sloan and the visit with Dr. Allen sealed the decision. Surgery went better than we could have hoped!
