Dr. Paul McLendon, MD

He wasn't familiar with my injury nor had he looked at my mri information. In fact hadn't become familiar with my overall health issues. Then decided instead of surgery first that I'd do 6 to 8 weeks of PT , then if not better do a surgery then PT all over again. Seemed like cart before the horse to me so I decided I wanted a 2nd opinion because this opinion was made NOT knowing enough about my background.

Dr McLendon performed extensive rotator cuff and biceps surgery on me 4 months ago and he did an excellent job. I’ve had very little pain and my progress is ahead of schedule. Dr. McLendon and his PA took the time to listen to my goals and helped structure my recovery around them. I strongly recommend Dr McLendon.

2-year follow-up appointment for reverse shoulder replacement. I destroyed my left shoulder falling on concrete. Dr. McClendon repaired it. After 4 months of physical therapy it improved significantly. I now have full range of motion, excellent strength and am pain free. Dr. McClendon is the best!

I had a shoulder surgery performed by another surgeon in Hampton roads. He did not specialize in shoulder surgery, but said he could still fix me. I ended up worse off than I was prior to his operation. Constant pain, unable to use my arm. Dr. McLendon had to undo all the previous work he did and basically start all over again. I have now fully recovered and am pain free. Thank you Dr. McLendon!

He is at Riverside in Newport News, Virginia now. During my appointment, he told me I was going to do Physical therapy. In his notes, he said he discussed the options with me and I decided for conservative treatment. I never usually choose conservative treatment and DID NOT in this case. His notes placed in my file say otherwise. I also had to ask him what he thought was wrong, he never offered the information. I felt like I was not important and was just another patient to him and also felt like he was disinterested in what I had to say.
