Dr. Gertler was my rheumatologist for about 31 years, before his retirement from his practice in December 2018. His concern for his patients, and what they were going through, was genuine, and his knowledgebase in the field just continued to grow. It didn't hurt that he really does understand what his patients were going through, as he has had a rheumatological disease since childhood. I was always very happy with his bedside manner, his knowledge, and his skills!

I had left a review about Dr. Gertler previously. I don't feel like I gave him a fair review. I give him three stars instead of four because I believe that while I do think the doctor has some things to learn in the listening department, I don't doubt his expertise and knowledge. Like many doctors trained to go by clinical results only, I feel he doesn't give enough credence to anecdotal evidence. But overall I think he does care and want to help. He is also very thorough.

I have seen Dr Gertler on and off since the 1980's. He is always through, respectful, and on target. He is conservative about interventions and direct about what to expect. he looks at the whole person instead of limiting himself to specific body parts. Spends the extra time to listen!

Excellent doctor. He will always discuss the pros and cons of medications and procedures. He may not appear to be "warm and fuzzy" when you first meet him, but he's actually quite down to earth. Plus, he speaks to you like you're an adult.
