Dr. Paul Carnes, MD

Dr Carns is a very caring and wonderful Dr. He gives the easiest shots out of any Dr. I have ever seen. He doesn’t hurt you at all. He has a wonderful bedside manner, he cares about his patients. Dr Carns listens intently and will take the best of care for his patients.

I have been a patient with Dr Carnes since 2015, with absolutely excellent results. He has been attentive to my concerns, assuring that he understands my needs. He then develops a plan, presents that to me, listens to my questions, and concerns. Then we agree on a plan to go forward. I have received excellent, short, and long term pain relief from Chronic Pain, fibromyalgia, and its tentacles. His staff is tuned in to his commitment to patients, and I can speak with his PA, and Nurses who can honestly, and fairly communicate with them when I need

After been seen at Midtown pain and spine. And they kicked me out because I was short 2 pills and left me without any medication plus they wasn’t doing anything to me. But Dr Carnes he been trying his best to help me with my nerve damage. I really appreciate the hard work they do for everyone. I really recommend him and everyone can trust him no doubt. Thank you again.

Dr Carnes is truly concerned for my well-being. He treats me for pain management. He is always attentive, and listens to my problem areas. Yes, he screens for drugs, but isn’t that what a responsible doctor would do. I have no problems with his treatments. I’d highly recommend him.

I have chronic nerve pain. I've been fortunate to see many excellent doctors in the country. Dr Carnes is the real deal. He is very intelligent & extremely quick to diagnose. Paul Carnes also is quick to detect secondary pain conditions. Example - because of your pain, you sit sideways and you have hip pain don't you? He is spot on. (Important to fix for exercise etc) Carnes also does a quick but thorough and observant physical exam. Don't visit Dr. Carnes if you like a lot of chit chat or extensive discussion of your feelings. Pain sucks, he knows it. We all know. Dr Carnes is army, stoic, extremely smart and gets it done. He is funny and he cares but most importantly he knows what he's doing. Highly recommended.

In 9 years of severe pain from trigeminal and occipital neuralgia and other conditions including a failed brain surgery at Duke, Dr Carnes has been the most knowledgeable doctor I’ve seen. We moved back to NC in 2016 and I waited 2 years before leaving my VA doctor because I couldn’t find anyone any better than what I had. Well, Dr Carnes is better! He has the latest in equipment and his technique (nerve blocks) is superior. Office staff is very professional and return calls promptly.

Excellent Physician, this practice is one of the top neurology practices in NC. Very caring and patient. Dr Carnes helped my pain so much. I am now able to live a somewhat productive life. Before he started treating me I could barely get out of bed. I know I'll never be without pain but at least now it is tolerable. Wish I would have gone to him earlier. Excellent staff. Very kind. Always gets back to me quickly when I call. Denise is a kind, wonderful nurse. Jan is also fabulous. Highly recmnd
