Moya Moya treatment
He was a Dr I feel privileged to find. We went into our first meeting knowing very little about my rare disease. He put us at ease immediately and explained my illness and treatment in terms we could relate to. At all times he was compassionate and I was treated with the utmost respect and consideration by himself and his staff! I have recommended his office numerous times to others and feel so fortunate to have found him and to have gotten such a new lease on life! I credit him and his staff for saving my life!

Brain damage
Dr. Camarata did my first chiari decompression surgery. He did it so inadequately that I needed 2 more to finally have symptom relief. Soon after his surgery, I was diagnosed with hospital acquired brainstem demyelination that happened from severe untreated electrolyte imbalance after surgery. I did not receive any food or fluids during my entire 5 day ICU stay despite vomiting dozens of times a day. Furthermore, Dr. Camarata told me my symptom reoccurrence was from anxiety, when they were in fact from the same issue I saw him for- brainstem compression. As a provider who worked with dozens of drs a day, I’ve never seen anyone treat a patient with such lack of empathy and negligence as he treated me. He was the worst decision I ever made and I’m so glad I met a true chiari expert after him who actually did my surgery correctly and gave me my life back.

My son was diagnosed with brain tumor which I of course freaked out when I heard the news. Dr. C is what my 14 yr old son calls him. Dr. C gave my son a nick name too. Which made him even cooler to a teenager whose life was turned upside down. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. C. He was "cool" to the teenager, compassionate to me (mom) and always always honest and upfront with both of us. He explained every detail to my son and never made him feel like decisions were being made for him. When the decision was made for my son's brain surgery he took every aspect of my son's life into consideration. He made decisions on my son's care that would have life long impacts & didn't just heal him in the moment even if it took more of Dr.C's time.

Incredible surgeon and an even better person. Don't know where I'd be without him. After surgery I went to MD Anderson for a 2nd opinion on chemo treatment and after looking at my MRI's they were in awe of Dr. Camarata's work. We're so lucky to have him in Kansas city.

My meeting and experience with Dr. Camarata was nothing short of a blessing. His quick diagnosis and surgery decision resolved my many months of suffering. He is so kind and compassionate. I felt he was truly concerned about my quality of life and wanted to help. My pain was immediately relieved after surgery. Months before I was passed on from doctor to doctor. Dr. Camarata has totally restored my faith in the medical profession. God bless him
