I would absolutely recommend Dr. Chiasson and in particular for the Linx procedure to alleviate LPR and GERD as well as hiatal hernia repair (which is what I had done). He is very skilled at this procedure and has done a lot of them. He claims great results and although I’m only two weeks out from my own surgery, I am very, very happy. He is EXCELLENT at making sure people are the right candidates for different options. He had me do a large series of tests to qualify and explained the reasons for each. There were also other options if Linx hadn’t been a solution. He printed out a number of studies of linx for me on cases that were specifically like mine to read and encouraged me to look into others. It was absolutely no pressure and a lot of information freely given. He is friendly but very matter-of-fact. When I had my manometry test, the doctor doing that spoke very very highly of him also. Once I was qualified for Linx, he showed me with pictures exactly the procedure that would be done and how it could be altered based on specific anatomy and the decisions that would be made as far as things like sizing and mesh. All potential complications and his experience with them were explained, including common ones after linx like dysphagia and what to expect. He seems to be one of the most familiar with linx in the state when I looked into him and seems to have very few really problematic complications. He also seems to prefer linx where someone’s case fits it and after looking into it, I liked that unlike other options you retained more ability to do things like belch and vomit and unlike other options, it was reversible if needed. But even though it’s a pretty new procedure (only about 12 years old) it has good results for many…and Dr. Chiasson’s results seem even better than most. Now that I am eating pasta sauce and coffee again without issue and sleeping so well, I am incredibly optomistic for the future and think there’s a good chance this is one of the better self-care decisions I’ve made! When I actually had the surgery I was in contact via reddit with several others who were having theirs within a week of mine across the country. His recovery protocol for me varied from theirs and he explained that it would (others got the standard advice you’ll find online…he has some tweaks including big gulps of water). Either I got very lucky physically or his skills and the recovery protocol combined gave me a much easier recovery! Compared to everyone else I seem to have a lot less pain and expanded my diet much faster with a lot less dysphagia and chest pain (common recovery issues). Even my shoulder pain from inflation went away faster and the incisions, while on par with others, are healing fine and along the lines of what I was told to expect. At the consult after the surgery I got extensive notes on the procedure and also had all my questions answered including about my hernia size and what size linx device ended up being used so I have that information. After my own experience I would recommend him to anyone. I also really liked Northwest Allied other than theyre facilities are mazelike and can be hard to navigate or even find reception (I went to a bunch of the different locations for tests, surgery prep, consultations, surgery) and their phone system is…difficult. In office they’re awesome however…very kind and efficient and I felt very well taken care of. My advice to anyone trying to deal with them on the phone is to hit the buttons as if you’re trying to make an appointment no matter what your concern is (unless you are going to the emergy lines). You’ll at least get to talk to a human who can direct you. Otherwise you tend to end up at voicemail boxes that may never get responded to. If you also have life limiting LPR or GERD, I would highly encourage you to start looking for answers and get some testing done. If you get to the point that surgery makes sense, I think you will be very, very well cared for if you end up here with Dr. Chiasson and Northwest Allied.

Mixed feelings
I’m sad I have to leave a negative review but the total experience is more than just the Dr. I love Dr Chiasson. He is amazing . He was my Dr and then I moved from Tucson to Phoenix. I made an appointment 2 years after my initial visit with him because I was having issues eating and I wanted to stay with him but the staff gave me the wrong date so I drove 3 hours for nothing. He was still there when I arrived because I could see him but left for the day during the 10 min it took for the staff to find another appointment. At no time did the staff think to ask him if he would be willing to see me since it was their mistake I drove all that way. The lady helping me didn’t seem to care about the inconvenience of taking the day off and a 3 hour drive for their mistake. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to that office.

Excellent doctor
I had gallbladder removal surgery with DR Chiasson and the surgery went great, in post op DR Chiasson took his time with me to make sure I understood how the surgery went and the instructions for post surgery recovery. From my pre surgery visits to post surgery, he was compassionate, understanding, took his time with me. In my opinion, I could not ask for a better surgeon.

Do NOT, do Not I beg of you please do not go to this surgeon!simple gallbladder removal turned major surgery! He said he found mekelsdiverticulum &removed it.Said he put a staple n my small intestines!Later I found it was sootures &that I should have been n the hospital for more than 1 day! Told me he found endometriosis n my stomach cavity(I’ve had a hysto)that he didn’t remove!!just came from testing at Mayo & they found none! After surgery I was n severe pain,he told me it was mental & prescribed Xanax!2 years later I find he sewed up a nerve!Nerve entrapment & I’ve been suffering w/ the pain since!I haven’t been able to eat properly for 2 years & have had acid reflux since surgery! Will b getting further tests at Mayo to figure out what hes done!DO NOT ALLOW THIS MAN TO DO SURGERY ON YOU! Hes cocky about his 5 stars!Looks like he fell to 4.4 in the past 2 years!I should have listened to my gut when I told him no the first time when he wanted 2 do surgery 2/ normal gallbladder testing!

I was blessed finding Dr. Chiasson, he literally saved my life. I already knew he came highly recommended. But having lived on this planet for 73 years I have had some pretty dismal experiences with Drs that came highly recommended. This Dr. Is good really good. Very patient with questions. Very good at explaining to you just exactly you are experiencing! Sometimes the stats align !

Spends a few minutes (barely) with you, not aware with poor performance of office staff, good luck getting someone to answer the phone if working at all, being deferred to the answering service, or staff returning calls. Most of the office staff have no manners, are rude, don’t help patients with the WLS process, the paperwork you receive is in such poor disarray and office staff accept no responsibility.

Dr. told me to schedule a morning barium appt. and then call his office for a same day pm follow up with him. The Dr.s scheduler said 'perfect'for after lunch that day. I did the procedure and in a couple hours, headed for the Office. The gals at the desk had no appt. for me. I repeated to them what the Dr. said because I lived so far away. One girl said, "I will go ask the Dr." She returned 15 min.later and said 'the Dr. said for you to make an appt'! 200 mi. RT and $42 in fuel,no test report

As someone who has a masters in nursing and someone who has had 22 operations in the last five years, I can attest to the fact that I have never experienced a more hands on, involved Dr in my life. Dr Chiasson seeks to not only help his patients but improve their quality of life. His compassion and considerate nature are unmatched. Though he does many bariatric surgeries, I saw him for a medical condition that few Doctors are willing to treat and he exceeded all of my expectations.

I want to Thank Dr. Chiasson for giving me a second chance in life. I would not be able to handle being over 400 lbs. I had surgery Nov.12, 2014 and currently down a total of 190 lbs. I was asked to speak at a national weight los surgery conference a couple weeks ago and never thought that i would I would stand up in front of a crown of people from across the county and talk about my success. Thank you so much again Dr. Chiasson. I am living life again to the fullest.
