Dr. Patricia Erbe, MD

I first heard of her when an acquaintance described Dr Erbe's life-saving intervention in an emergency. I am very glad that she is, according to other doctors I know, a brilliant pediatrician. I am equally glad that Dr Erbe is unpretentious, kind, and thoughtful. She was right there at the births of our children and has been right there for them ever since. (I believe she was the first female physician to be Head of Staff at Cottage, Santa Barbara. If you happen to get lost there, you may come across a wall of photographs of Heads of Staff. Look for the first woman.)

The wait time can be up to 20 min or more with an appointment. She tells you how it is, straight to the point. But soon discovered that I needed to get second opinion. Office staff is not friendly.

I really like Dr. Erbe. We were at Sansum for many years and loved Dr. Hamdani, but it is so difficult to get an appointment at Sansum. Dr. Erbe is very thorough. She maybe isn't super warm and fuzzy, but I want an honest Dr., and she definitely is. I also love that if my kids are sick or get hurt, I can always get them in the same day or next morning and we get to avoid Urgent Care. Had been going for years, but needed to always get second opinion from elsewhere which always turned out to be the correct opinion. Very disorganized and won't return phone calls. Staff don't update immunization schedule after they give shots and so they try to give shots again every year and I always have to remind them to recheck chart and update immunization chart they use. Lame. Go to another doctor.

Dr. Erbe met my daughter the day she was born, over 14 years ago. She has been a wonderful pediatrician to her. She has raised children herself, and offers complete professionalism and years of experience. She speaks to my daughter, and I know she listens. She always offers good advice. She seems genuinely interested in my daughter's development, both physically and emotionally. I can't say enough about her. We have nothing but trust, respect and gratitude for Dr. Erbe!
